At http://www.oprah.com/omagazine/Live-You ... weepstakes, even if I allow every possible script there is to allow, the "yellow box" doesn't appear and the message saying "if you don't see the yellow box you need to allow javascript" is there. Also have RP, and tried enabling everything there as well.

The problem is Adblock Plus.
Just disable it on that page.

But the ABP info helped me figure it out: it was antivirus software with an anti-banner function.

Looks like all you need to allow is oprah.com & hearstmags.com (& have ABP disabled).
