Flashgot and usd

Post by icegood »

I've been using FlashGot for monthes and use also Universal Share Downloader - really cool thing for rapidshare etc. But i have troubles. I've installed many copies of usd (simply one usd per specified file server - will be faster if mirrors present). But when i click on flashgot to download link and one instance of usd was run then it's just refuses to run another instance. I should do all time walkaround - run other instance manually and import links to that instance manually too. So, pleace, do not check wheather instance of downloader is running or at least check execution path.

That's neat.

You can't run two instances of USD from the same directory, but if you copy usd.exe into a new directory, you can have multiple instances running.

How about if you set up the other instances as user defined (custom) downloaders?
Naming them as USD-2, USD-3, ...

Yes, they all are user defined, namely usd_rapidshare, usd_depositfiles etc.

What I understand is that USD checks if an instance is already running and refuses to run another or accept the command line on the currently running instance.
Most download managers behave the opposite way: they keep just one instance running, but when invoked they accept the parameters and enqueue the download.
That's the correct behavior IMO, and the thing you would like to see happening.
Therefore, this is not a FlashGot bug but an USD one, and you should report it to USD developers to have it fixed.

No you misunderstand me. I can run many instances of USD whenever i want but only in manual way. So it's defenetly NOT USD bug.
But... It's not fact that smth wrong in FlashGot. Did you run external downloaders via your own WinExec or w/e or use Firefox resources?

Custom downloaders are spawned using the nsIProcess XPCOM interface of Firefox (which, on Windows, calls the CreateProcess Win32 API).
