Capture MTV.com videos?

Post by Jabe »

Hi!

I tried to capture MTV.com videos with Flashgot and even with Obrit Grab++ and all I achieve to capture was advertising.

Do you have any idea how to do it?

Here is the link of the video I'm trying to capture.

Using (some form of) RTMP which FlashGot cannot see.
Nor does Orbit see it.

Support for RTMPE (Protected Streaming) Multimedia

Will RTMP listening be available in some future release?

Is there any program to do so?
I didn't understand what rtmpdump does. Could it help using it?

I tried the demo version it seems to find links but when I try to read files it doesn't work (and it makes VLC crash).
If you know some better Free program let me know.
This one seems buggy and it's too expensive for me (35$) as I would only use it once :?.

Any news about RTMP listening as an update for Flashgot?

This is very unlikely for many reasons, some technical and some legal.
Anyway I'm in talks with JDownloader developers to add RTMP support to the FlashGot+JDownloader combo.

Ok let us know about it.

I use JDownloader to get megaupload, rapidshare, etc. files faster.

I never used it to get videos but why not if it remains free ;)

FlashGot V. 1.2.0.8 works.
I also had issues with not being able to download content from many different sites after upgrading flashGot beyond 1.2.0.8
But after I downgraded back to 1.2.0.8, everything works fine, so I will never upgrade FlashGot again.

It seems strange to me…

Can you test downloading this video please?

looked like it downloaded the file, but when I went to look at the file, the name was:
Beatboxing_Machine_Video_dynamic_preroll_playlist.fmil
and it was only 1K in size.

Ok so it's a bit like what it did to me with Orbit.
Thanks for trying anyway.

I'm still waiting for some Flashgot (or JDownloader) update :|

To tell you the truth, I don't see a way to download anything from MTV, they play a commercial before the show starts, then every once in a while the player stops the show and displays more commercials. The commercial is not part of the show recording, the player actually stops the show and pulls commercial from different source. So I don't see a way to download the show with all the commercial interruptions.
