I´m using flashgot with seamonkey 2.0.1 on Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit.
I selected flashgot all and the directory selector popped up (e.g save to ~/user/downloads/foo this was an existing directory)
I clicked O.K.
Flashgot completely overwrote the directory. All the old files were gone and only the new files were in the directory.
Does anyone know why this happened? Does flashgot show a prompt before it overwrites a directory? How can I prevent this from happening again?
Thanks

Re: Flashgot overwrote entire directory
It shouldn't happen, and it's the first time I can see such an issue reported.
What page were you using FlashGot All on?

Re: Flashgot overwrote entire directory
Forgot to ask:
- Which FlashGot version are you using?
- Is the "Overwrite" checkbox in FlashGot Options|Download Manager flagged? (not that this should cause directory overwriting, though)

Re: Flashgot overwrote entire directory
What downloader are you using?
(Appears we're talking about Browser Built In. In my case, Overwrite is not checked.)

Re: Flashgot overwrote entire directory
I´m using flashgot version 1.2.1.08.
I´m using flashgot as an add-on in Seamonkey 2.0.1
There is no overwrite checkbox in the downloads tab in the options window. The only checkboxes are:
autostart downloads (checked)
Intercept all downloads (not checked)
File extensions (checked)
Apply file extensions filter to batch downloads too (not checked)
I don´t know what you mean when you ask what downloader I´m using. I assume it is built into Seamonkey. However, in the general tab in the options window the download manager is shown as Wget. So maybe I´m not using the Seamonkey downloader?
I should say that I am using an encrypted drive with LVM, several partitions, and ext4. I had another incident where I copied directories from a USB external NTFS drive to my encrypted drive and all the data disappeared from both drives. Maybe I just have a flaky system?
Thanks for looking at this!

Re: Flashgot overwrote entire directory
If it says Wget, you're using Wget.solidstate wrote:However, in the general tab in the options window the download manager is shown as Wget. So maybe I´m not using the Seamonkey downloader?
That said, I doubt Wget would overwrite a directory, it would be quite a bug for a so venerable product.
It's possible. However you may want to try the Built In (in the same list as "Wget") and check which suits better your tastes/needs.Maybe I just have a flaky system?

If you change to Browser Built In, then on the General tab of FlashGot Options, there will be an Overwrite checkbox. There is no overwrite checkbox in the downloads tab in the options window.
(Took me a while to find it too.)
PS: Update to 1.2.1.09.
