Back button redirects to new page?

Post by exostencil »

OK, I'm sorry if this is a known issue, but I did a search and didn't see anything similar.

I'm running Firefox 3.6b5 and have NoScript set to block all scripts, but temporarily allow top-level sites by default (full addresses).

So, I ran into a few sites today that did something I have never seen before. When I hit the back button (or backspace) in Firefox, I was directed to a completely new site rather than the previous page in my history list.

Three Questions:
1) Is this something new that dastardly site admins are dropping on users or has this been around for a while?

2) Can we prevent this kind of behavior (even for white-listed sites) with the current build of NoScript? (1.9.9.30)

3) If not, is this kind of protection in development at the moment?

Thanks in advance!

URLs where this happens?

If you disable NoScript, does the same occur?

I don't remember what website(s) caused the behavior. If it happens again I'll write down the URL for sure.

So I'm guessing this is something fairly new then...
