noscript.untrusted & difficulty searching solutions here...

Post by dijitul »

Aloha,

I often visit this support site to research my questions about noscript, and read the FAQ, before posting. However, it seems there's a bit of a challenge actually performing searches. The search box doesn't appear to give an obvious way to do exact word/phrase searches, and some of the most useful search keywords are "too common" and ignored (e.g. untrusted, noscript).

At the risk of being ridiculed for not searching the answer properly, how would I reliably search for a term such as "noscript.untrusted"?

And, on that note, is the "noscript.untrusted" about:config box the only way to edit the untrusted sites list without having to actually open a suspect domain?

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

Agreed.

I'd search for my post that says the same thing, but all it would return is something about "common words".

Heh, Search... Needs Revisions.

I use Google site search on "noscript.untrusted", including the quotes.

Code: Select all

site:forums.informaction.com "noscript.untrusted"
and

Code: Select all

site:noscript.net "noscript.untrusted"
The second one found the following at http://noscript.net/features#blacklist
Advanced users: even though the untrusted sites blacklist has no listing UI of its own, you can mass-edit it either modifying the noscript.untrusted about:config preference or using the Import/Export functionality of the NoScript Options|Whitelist panel, knowing that the untrusted entries are exported under an [UNTRUSTED] header.

Thanks, Alan. Not the best way to search, especially since Google doesn't update with new posts right away, but hopefully this will help others, too, in the future.

You're welcome.

Yes, I hate it when one of my search words is ignored because it's too common. I thought that problem had been fixed in these forums already, but apparently not. In my experience, the Search in most forums doesn't support the use of quotes either. Pathetic.

By the way, I hope you noticed that the answer to your question wasn't in these forums anyhow; it was on noscript.net. Site search really is the best way to search there.
