Thanks for Noscript - it is my most essential Seamonkey extension.
Is there a way to disable the little yellow popups? (I think they are called "Tooltips", not sure but that was my search term.)
They always block what I'm trying to look at. Rather than make a request I wanted to post here first in case there is a preference I haven't found.
TIA

Re: How to turn off tooltips?
Could you elaborate on _WHICH_ tooltips are bothering you? I mean tooltips are a system level function and although it can be made so applications don't generate them, it would be core level and if behavior is changed, that will affect everyone. Selective changes are not readily doable using existing preferences or settings, but still would be nice to know which tooltips you are trying to get rid of. Who knows, there just might be a lucky solution.

Re: How to turn off tooltips?
I think it's going to be an all or nothing deal.
And there's a UI for it too. Who would have ever known (noticed).
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser.chrome.toolbar_tips
Now there are those "ad" "tooltips", but that is different.
Like this page, http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2354898,00.asp, second paragraph, the word "processor" will generate one.
(Adblock needs to be disabled, & Temporarily Allow All This Page in NoScript)

Re: How to turn off tooltips?
I think maybe OP was referring to NoScript pop-up warnings, in which case, go to NoScript menu > Options > Notifications and uncheck "Show messages about blocked scripts."
You will still have the NoScript logo to alert you when anything is being blocked. (Turns from all blue to partly red or all red, depending on how much blocking.)
Hope this helps.

Re: How to turn off tooltips?
Here is a screenshot to illustrate.

In other words, after right-clicking to get the Noscript menu, I then want to look thru the list of script domains to see which are really needed. But the tooltip is right on top of the list, always blocking at least one of the items.

That's going to be the first scenario I described, & all or nothing.
If your hand shakes as much as mine, your mouse cursor would never be in the same location long enough for the tooltip to appear

What therube said.
Workaround: Move your cursor to the right side of one of the selections. The tooltip won't obscure any of the text then.swhx7 wrote:In other words, after right-clicking to get the Noscript menu, I then want to look thru the list of script domains to see which are really needed. That's what I've been doing. It is only a minor annoyance.

Re: How to turn off tooltips?
As stated in the first reply and confirmed by multiple people afterwards, its going to affect the whole environment and you can turn it off but keep in mind you won't get tooltips for other things either. Also, if after the menu appears, you don't keep your mouse over the item that generated the sub-menu, then it won't show up either. The funny thing is, I have NEVER had this problem, I guess it must be how I navigate that prevents it from being an annoyance, and unlike therube, its not from shaking hands
Good luck.

It also goes away after a few seconds. So if you can wait that long, you have a clear shot at the menu.
Also, since there is a choice to allow either permanently or temporarily, each blocked domain is listed twice. To me, the notification blocks only one.
Your screenshot shows the same thing. "Temporarily allow d.yimg.com" shows, so you *know* that what is (partially) blocked is "Allow d.yimg.com" (i. e. permanently allow and add to whitelist.)
Perhaps this is why Guardian and I have never noticed this issue. The domain is visible in one form or another, temp or permanent. Cheers.
