NoScript still blocking after I allow scripts for a page.

Post by cochy115 »

I've noticed that this problem is becoming more and more frequent. I love no script, but I find myself having to resort to Internet Explorer just to visit certain sites. One, for example, is http://www.jcpenney.com (example: http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?De ... 0436|50841). I allow all the scripts and the photos for their clothing still doesn't appear. Also for http://www.theweatherclub.com/Webcast.aspx and http://www.sctimes.com/section/weather.

What is going on? Are there scripts it's still blocking and hiding so you can't "temporary allow" or "allow?"

Please help :( I think this is an invaluable addon, but not if it's blocking content on some of my favorite websites.

More info: I'm on Windows Vista and my NoScript is up to date. This even happened with previous Firefox versions.

I don't have any trouble viewing the pictures in http://www2.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?De ... 0436|50841. I do have to Allow jcpenney.com if I want the customer reviews to display correctly, but the images come out all right in either case. I've compared this to the display in my test profile that has the default theme and no extensions. All of the images are being displayed in my NoScript test profile: default theme, no other extensions.

NoScript 1.9.1.7

You might have an extension conflict or your NoScript settings got hosed somehow. First install the latest development version of NoScript, 1.9.1.7 from NoScript Development Build.
Then reset your NoScript settings by pressing the Reset button at the bottom of the NoScript Options dialog. If you've customized your NoScript whitelist and want to save it, export it first from the NoScript Options > Whitelist panel. Once NoScript is working properly again, you can import the whitelist.

Hope this helps. Please let us know whether it does.

Edit: I have no problem with the other two sites either.

First questions: Do you have any ad-blocking programs, such as AdBlock or AdBlockPlus? In Firefox Tools > Options > Content, is "Load Images Automatically" checked, and do you have any of these sites in your "Exceptions" list on that line?

In Fx2, I have to point to the NS menu and find a green "Blocked Objects list", then "temporarily allow" those, e. g. *@http.reviews.jcpenney.com, or *@www2.jcpenney.com. I've asked Giorgio to have these blocked objects also color the NS logo red, to alert people to them, and I believe he agreed. I'll ask again.

The other alternative, once allowing jcpenney.com, is that I do get a placeholder (red NoScript blocking logo). I can click and OK the "Temporarily allow" the shockwave flash (.swf) object, and the St. John's Bay Y-Neck Cardigan comes through fine. (Nice choice, by the way.)

I don't have experience with F3 - sorry. But you say it happened with previous Firefox versions -- did you mean previous F3 versions, or F2.x? If the latter, then this is likely the issue.

I agree, Tom.

(I've got a $10 of $10 coupon for JCP that I have to use by the 20th. And I hate shopping, but I'll force myself.)
