unable to inst ns.xpi

cannot install this add on for some reason. I get the download correctly, but upon installation, (even after disabling all other add on's), it gives me a box stating that NS could not be installed because signing could not be verified, code 260. I started in safe mode with f.f., and disabled all, then restarted one at a time....still unable to download.
I also get a warning that the download site is a "dangerous"???? site to download from.
Suggestions.

noscript.net and addons.mozilla.org are both safe.

Suggestions.

This is a rare problem. Here's the workaround that's been successful.

You can try to check (test) the xpi file with a zip file manager like7-zip ( http://www.7-zip.org/ ).
XPI files are normal zip archives.
This one has a folder META-INF that stores the signing data.
Deleting that folder makes it a normal unsigned file.

Good catch! None of the legitimate NoScript installation packages are named ns.xpi.

after clicking on the NoScript link at addons.mozilla.org........yup, 3 days running....

methinks my machine is infected. Downloaded that same .xpi, from noscript.net, and from addons.mozilla.org....and tried to install via the drag n drop into the addy bar.
Failed there also.....thanks for help though.
