Re: no script icon is gone
If something on a page does not work, you usually just need to click on the "Options" button or the NoScript icon and "Allow all on this page".
Your choice will be remembered, and you won't need to do it anymore.
Anyway you can easily uninstall as explained here:

Are you sure that terrymama isn't asking how to remove .NET Framework Assistant? (I'm not sure, either.)Giorgio Maone wrote:If something on a page does not work, you usually just need to click on the "Options" button or the NoScript icon and "Allow all on this page".

Re: no script icon is gone
I had the same issue.
Go to regedit and delete Microsoft .NET and AVG Safe Search (KEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mozilla\Firefox\Extensions) registry keys.
I deleted both and the No Script icon came back! Not sure which one was causing the problem though...Only the AVG Safe Search was showing in my Firefox Addons list, now gone!

Corrupt extension files
Corrupt extension configuration files can cause problems when trying to install an extension. Deleting these files will make Firefox recreate them (removing any corruption) the next time it starts. You won't lose your extensions or their settings by deleting these files.
1. From the menu at the top of the Firefox windowbar, select FileFirefox and then select the ExitQuit FirefoxQuit menu item.
2. Go to your profile folder.
3. Delete the following files:
* extensions.ini
* extensions.cache
* extensions.rdf
4. Restart Firefox.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.14) Gecko/2009082707 Firefox/3.0.14 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Re: no script icon is gone
Hi, registered just for this issue.
I am still having problems with this. I am running Firefox 3.5.3 and the latest version of noscript.
Here's what I've done so far:
I have manually uninstalled the .net assistant plugin.
I removed the registry key in regedit.
I went into about:config and tried to find the general.user***.extra.microsoft but it wasn't there so I can't reset it.
I have removed the profile files on the guides.
I have tried uninstalling firefox, then reinstalling firefox + noscript after I have removed the .net assistant.
Did a system restore to before the date the .net assistant was installed.
I've done all those and i still cannot for the life of me get the NS icon to appear. Am I missing some steps or is my computer just really messed up?
Thanks for the help!

Re: no script icon is gone
The only extension that's showing in the extensions window is noscript.
I have gone ahead and uninstalled everything relating to .net and microsoft update is actually telling me to downlaod Microsoft .NET 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update(KB951847) x86.
I've restarted the computer, uninstalled firefox, deleted all the folders in appdata that had mozilla/firefox names and reinstalled Firefox and noscript. I still don't have the NS button on the bottom right side of my screen where the NS button used to be.
I am genuinely clueless now...

Does it work on a different, clean profile?op3lguest wrote:Help please?

If it does, maybe your current profile is corrupted, and you may need
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_ ... ew_profile

Re: no script icon is gone
I deleted the 3 extension files plus the extensions folders found in appdata/roaming/mozilla. I made sure all the extension files/folders are gone, then started firefox again, redownloaded NS and nothing.Giorgio Maone wrote:Does it work on a different, clean profile?op3lguest wrote:Help please?

Microsoft auto update is wanting me to install KB951847 which is the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update so i'm sure I've removed the .NET things.
The only .NET related item in my uninstall list for updates is a hotfix for the .NET framework SP1 which windows won't let me uninstall because it can only uninstall programs that are installed... whatever that means.

Re: no script icon is gone
Still it's not a clean profile (i.e. a freshly created one).

Re: no script icon is gone
I have deleted the profiles and created a new one. Re-downloaded NS and still the icon won't show up. Could it be possible that somehow the update messed up some files in windows itself cause nothing is working.
Not sure if this is relevant but I installed weather fox and after the restart, the NS showed up after the restart, but the weatherfox addon did not show up. Then after I closed Firefox, both weather fox and NS icon disappeared again.

Re: no script icon is gone
After installing the new version from NS the same crap and bug appear again.
No icon in the status bar, no devellopper bar.
And again Guardians workaround helps.
And no I do not want to search about:config and no I do not want installing or de-install .net or whatever.
So I have found a better solution:
Opera.
There I can easaly switch off or switch on JS for every site seperatly.
Also this works for cookies and also works for the referrer and for plugIns and for animations and for sound and for popups.
And the best is:
it works without installing thousend packs of crapsoftware
Sorry

Re: no script icon is gone
First, I am sorry you are having problems, Second, I am glad my solution helps, and finally, I think you need to find out the root of what is causing it in your environment. It could be a single rogue theme or extension that you installed that is hurting you. In general we all have tons of extensions and it works just fine. Occasionally, there are conflicts caused by less experienced developers. It is unfortunate but don't give up on it just because of that.
Have you tried Standard Diagnostic, simply put, you will have to enable your extensions one at a time until you encounter the error and then you know which one is causing it and then you can narrow down if its done by itself or in conjunction with a conflict with another extension you had previously enabled. Its a pain, for sure but then anything worth doing would be.
