Mozillazine.org, Allowed but not getting past Anubis

so this weird.

close FF.
open FF (& restore session)

one of my tabs is https://www.mozillazine.org
mozillazine.org uses Anubis.

in my restored tab, typically the page always displays - regardless of JavaScript, regardless of Anubis.
it does this, i suppose, simply because of stored page history.
i don't interact with the page - except to open mozillazine in a new window.
(now, that new window does require JS, for Anubis.)

today, after my close, open (& restore), for whatever reason (maybe stale cookie?) the restored mozillazine tab did open to the Anubis page, stating that i did need JS (& JS was not enabled). & i'm like, no big deal, & i enable JS, but... the icon didn't look right, & the page still did not get past Anubis. & i allow all on the page, still Anubis. & i allow globally, still Anubis.

Revoke All.

open a new window, https://mozillazine.org, Anubis, Allow mozillazine.org, & mozillazine.org loads as expected.

at that point, i go back to my originally restored tab, refresh the page, & it loads (as i had "passed" Anubis from the step above, mozillazine was still allowed).

then, in my original tab, i 'clear cookies & site data'. Allow mozillazine. icon is still wrong looking, & cannot bypass Anubis.

open a new window, load mozillazine & it loads.

go back to my original tab, refresh the page, & it loads.
& with that, i'm not sure just what the icon is showing?


same Profile, same settings, (virtually) same restored tabs, for ages now.
yet today, i happened to close, re-open, & something changed?

1. JS blocked
2. Temporarily Allow all on page (& icon looks wrong)
3. mozillazine.org is Allowed, google.com is not
& in this tab, if i clear Cookies, with mozillazine.org Allowed, i cannot get past Anubis ?

Just tried in a VM.
I can consistently get the Anubis probe if I open mozillazine in a private window, but I always pass it.

at that point, i open a new window, mozillazine is still Allowed, i load mozillazine & the page loads as expected.

2. i've refreshed the page, & (presumably from the cookie generated in the above 'new window', so now, the page in the tab, that particular tab, does load as expected

at that point, if i clear cookies, & refresh the page in the tab, i am still stuck at Anubis - even though mozillazine has been Allowed throughout

That's important. Likely the page is loading before NoScript is fully loaded, causing NoScript to fall back to restrictive CSP to err on the side of security. Or have you ever seen this when mozillaZine is *not* loaded immediately at browser startup?

If you only see it with session restore, wonder if similar to viewtopic.php?t=27374 ?

I have (typically) 3 windows, & untold number of tabs.
A number of my tabs are relatively static - meaning that they are always open.
That may be, the "main page" of a website, where I would open tabs there from (& then close same as I'm done with them).
Or it could be the main page & various tabs - tabs that I'd not yet dealt fully with...

mozillazine.org (https://forums.mozillazine.org/, actually) is one of these "static" pages, always in my Session Restore.
In this case, it exits, to me, essentially as a placeholder.
Don't know that I've ever actually logged in there ? in FF (as I'd use SeaMonkey if I were to actually log in).
Only thing I would do from the tab, would be to open the page - in a new Private window, & just take a quick look at the posts there, & if anything peaked my interest, I'd then actually open the site in SeaMonkey & login & post.

This mozillazine.org tab, while always there, would not have ever been my "last visited", focused tab, when I would shut down FF. So any time I would frequent that particular tab, I would seek it out & go from there. (So in that respect, that tab is a "background" tab, so is not fully loaded on browser startup - instead only when I would actually load it.)

So today, I pick another, old stale tab. This one, being only something that has happened to hang around, no real reason for it to be open. So I click that tab, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1800742, as it happened to be, & it displayed. I then Allowed JS for mozillazine.org, the page reloaded, no longer showing the "Please enable JavaScript in your browser to use all the features on this site." message, so I knew all was as expected.

Having done nothing since Friday, browser open all the time [for a week now, actually]...

Today, I go back to that mozillazine.org tab...

Revoke Temporary Permissions
Clear cookies
Allow mozillazine...
(nothing different from what I'd been doing on Friday)

& it worked.
Anubis loaded, did its thing, & the mozillazine.org page loaded all as expected.


Oh, & also today, the NoScript icon looks normal.
mozillazine.org is Allowed & google.com is blocked.
(Compare against what I was getting on Friday, above.)
