Constantly getting the error: NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE

Post by p_wulff_hh »

While surfing the web I constantly get the following error (only with activated NoScript), sometimes after opening only 2 or 3 pages, sometimes it tooks more than 10 minutes but it happens every time I open Firefox:

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIDNSRecord.getNextAddrAsString]" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://noscript/content/DNS.js :: DNSRecord :: line 10" data: no]

and even less this error:

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80004001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED) [nsILoadGroup.addRequest]" nsresult: "0x80004001 (NS_ERROR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://noscript/content/IOUtil.js :: anonymous :: line 531" data: no]

Firefox does not crash, I can still open new tabs/windows and visit other websites, but any attempt to open a site that caused the above errors fails (or better: nothing is happen) and the Firefox status bar displays "Nachschlagen von http://www.sitename.com" ("Look up http://www.sitename.com") forever.

What DNS are you using?
Could you try http://opendns.org ?

I tried http://opendns.org as DNS but got same error after a while.

[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE) [nsIDNSRecord.getNextAddrAsString]" nsresult: "0x80040111 (NS_ERROR_NOT_AVAILABLE)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://noscript/content/DNS.js :: DNSRecord :: line 10" data: no]

Any more info you could need?

In this case it was http://www.heise.de, publisher of "c't", one of the most known PC-Magazines in Germany.
But I got the mentioned errors on other sites too.

Not sure what's going on but I went there and randomly clicked on links all over the place and after over 20 page loads in various places, no issue. Not seeing the error. I use OpenDNS in conjunction with our own and I get issues like this here and there and have been for a while but not getting it on this site.
