The Yahoo Mail IP Check Problem ( aka ipqualityscore )

Post by Mad_Man_Moon »

I still maintain a Yahoo Mail! address ... but their login process has an "IP Quality Score" check via ipqualityscore.com domain.

This is problematic for me and I am wondering if I can somehow use noscript (or indeed literally anything) to get around this.

I was originally going to post this in noscript support, since it's actually NS same origin policy which is breaking login. However, I believe that it is quite right to do so.

Yahoo do not need to know my IP, and they certainly do not need to weigh it against some third party data.

Moving aside that there are a bazillion ways that they could find my IP, and that maintaining SOME presence online is useful ... etc etc ... and so on. Is there a way around me letting them check this?

If anyone has thoughts on this, I'd be interested to know them ... whether just to say I'm an idiot (I am! hehe) or something more constructive.

( usual caveats about not expecting or feeling entitled to even being read, let along responded to apply to this post, if I can get it to post :-p )
