Hi. I was curious to know if it was normal that after installing Noscript that on the about:addons page in Firefox that the Noscript icon is blank when there is no internet connection. Does Noscript make a remote connection each time to https://addons.mozilla.org/user-media/a ... d=238235f7 to download that file; I thought everything would be self-contained when installing Noscript.
I don't recall if this was always like this or if something has changed on my end after recently reinstalling Windows and Noscript. Hope to receive some clarification. Thanks.

This is not normal and would not be controlled by NoScript.
Not sure if what follows is relevant, but since your issue started after a reinstall:
I have previously seen where some, but not all, addons would be displayed with blank icons in about:addons after copying my Firefox profile to another system. This usually happens when the absolute path to the profile folder or Firefox installation on the new system is different - in that case, I have found it's related to content of addonStartup.json.lz4 and extensions.json files in the profile folder.
Even when I wasn't dealing with differing absolute paths of either Firefox profile or Firefox installation, I still needed to restart Firefox with -purgecaches command-line option (an equivalent and maybe easier way to do that is: Help > More Troubleshooting Information (about:support) > "Clear startup cache...")
However, in my case the addon icons stayed blank and were not loaded remotely when there was an internet connection. So again, not sure if this is related to your issue or not - if not, sorry for the noise.

Re: about:addons png blank
Thank you for the feedback. I recently had my router breached, so I have become paranoid about even the most minor thing!
I tried both your suggestions (about:support and purgecaches), unfortunately, that didn't resolve the issue. After your mention about the Firefox profile, I decided to experiment by creating new profile and installing NoScript. I initially didn't see blank icon with or without an internet connection.
What I discovered was once I selected the following Firefox settings: Privacy & Security/History (Use custom settings for history)/Clear history when Firefox closes/Settings/Temporary cached files and pages, that when I restarted Firefox without an internet connection/blocked by the firewall the icon was blank. Also, this seemed to happen if I change browser.cache.disk.enable to false in about:config.
Is this the normal NoScript procedure? I suppose NoScript stores that file in Temporary storage and my new Firefox setup has been deleting that file.

Re: about:addons png blank
I can reproduce this in a completely clean installation of Firefox. Try going about:config and set extensions.getAddons.cache.enabled to false ?Johnny Jones wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 6:24 pm What I discovered was once I selected the following Firefox settings: Privacy & Security/History (Use custom settings for history)/Clear history when Firefox closes/Settings/Temporary cached files and pages, that when I restarted Firefox without an internet connection/blocked by the firewall the icon was blank.
Again, NoScript has no control over this.Johnny Jones wrote: ↑Wed Mar 19, 2025 6:24 pm Is this the normal NoScript procedure? I suppose NoScript st

Thanks barbaz!. Changing that setting to false fixed it.
