No website is loading after a while
No website is loading after a while
Hello,
I am using FF 129.0.1 (64-bit) and NS 11.4.34.
After a while (which is random, as is the time and number of tabs/sites used), no website loads.
I have to disable NS or do a complete FF restart to load a website again - enabling NS directly does not work.
I have already re-installed NS...

Re: No website is loading after a while
When this issue occurs, do you see anything related in the Browser Console? (Ctrl-Shift-J)
(if you don't know what's related, turn off CSS warnings and post everything else you see)
Before running into the issue and checking for Browser Console messages, make sure the Browser Console is set to "Multiprocess (Slower)"

Re: No website is loading after a while
If the problem occures, the console won't work.
If I start the console before, the console still works.
Normally I get always the following messages:
(error):
[Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE) [nsIDOMWindowUtils.addSheet]" nsresult: "0x80070057 (NS_ERROR_ILLEGAL_VALUE)" location: "JS frame :: resource://gre/modules/ExtensionCommon.sys.mjs :: runSafeSyncWithoutClone :: line 61" data: no]
(warning):
Laden fehlgeschlagen für das <script> mit der Quelle "https://[...]" (different website)
As soon as the problem starts, I get the following new messages:

error: Error code 2152398850

Re: No website is loading after a while
If you go Tools > Add-ons and Themes, and disable all extensions other than NoScript, does the issue still occur?
Did the problem start at the same time as you upgraded Firefox to a newer version?

Re: No website is loading after a while
Yes.
Unfortunately, I cannot make any statement on this. The problem occurred a few days ago. However, since I first suspected another cause, the narrowing down took some time.

Re: No website is loading after a while
(An old thread that related to Windows 7 (not what the OP is using), Firefox stops loading pages until NoScript disabled or Firefox restarted, that might provide some clues as to what to look for; like if https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ happens to still load, or if you may have gotten a "busy script" warning [from FF] around the time the issue started... - if you care to peruse.)

I will check this. Thanks.therube wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 3:55 pm (An old thread that related to Windows 7 (not what the OP is using), Firefox stops loading pages until NoScript disabled or Firefox restarted, that might provide some clues as to what to look for;
It's interesting that this website still works.therube wrote: ↑Mon Aug 19, 2024 3:55 pmlike if https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ happens to still load, or if you may have gotten a "busy script" warning [from FF] around the time the issue started... - if you care to peruse.)
I have now found out that rarely a certain website still works in an existing tab - but not when I open the website in a new tab.
But this is a really rare case and I can't say under which circumstances this happens.
I don't get any (visible) warning from FF.
Is there any way to identify if such a script is busy in the background without a warning appearing?

Re: No website is loading after a while
I have been seeing this same issue for months like the other thread too.
The only way to correct this is reboot Firefox for sure. Once in the while, disabling and reenabling NoScript can correct this.
Not sure where to start to correct this issue.

Re: No website is loading after a while
Update:
It seems that I have solved the problem:
I created a new profile with the exact same add-ons I was using before and imported my old session.
Since then, for about 4 days, the problem has not occurred again.

Re: No website is loading after a while
I have too many setting changes that a new profile would be very inconvenient.
I wonder what setting could be causing this issue.

Re: No website is loading after a while
If you can reproduce the issue in a new profile by completely quitting Firefox and copying files from your main profile, viewtopic.php?p=104118#p104118 has some ideas you could use to troubleshoot and ferret out the culprit
