Post by fatboy »

Fx 115.10esr
NS 11.4.31rc2 (or any other)
New profile.
Unchecked [frame] in Settings
Regardless of script resolution, no placeholders are displayed:
iframe - https://tom--schilling.de/wandern/wande ... 2023-07-17
frame - https://rf.dobrochan.net/
There are no messages in the console.

(I don't know about such things, but, I'll suspect that the "page" is not a "frame".

tom.
At least I didn't find "frame" / "iframe" in the code.
The left side "navigation menu" is a frame.
FF does not see it as a frame [in its' context-menu].
So I'll assume that it is some sort of construct, but not a "frame"

dobrochan.
Both sides are frames.
Both FF & the code show that.)

SeaMonkey + NS 2.9.0.12 shows a iframe placeholder — https://m.freespeech.club//VA0jBpX0.png
Firefox "shows" empty space.

I do see the iframe on the first link and the frames on the second link, and can confirm this report: NoScript 11.4.31rc3 does not show placeholders for the blocked iframes and frames. Firefox 128.0 here.

Did NoScript Webext ever show frame placeholders? (I don't know since I don't use this feature myself, I use uBlock Origin for (i)frame blocking.)

(I wasn't looking for an frame at the picture itself, but rather the 2 sides.)
SeaMonkey + NS 2.9.0.12
Oh, that's interesting.
What version of SeaMonkey?
2.9.0.14 won't even run in current SM. (Installs, but doesn't work. Maybe could be "fixed", but...)

In current SeaMonkey 2.53.20 beta 1 & with NoScript 5.1.9, also not getting any blocking with Forbid <FRAME> / Forbid <IFRAME> enabled.
Hmm...

On here, https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.as ... ight_width, appears the content of the frame is blocked, but no placeholder. But that is different from the original sample pages.

Still can't get it to work?

In NoScript 2.9.0.12, Embeddings, Forbid <*FRAME>.
Right?
Any other settings needed in NoScript.

And SM 2.38.

And yet I'm not getting placeholders?
Your screenshot sure seems to indicate that the placeholders are from NoScript.

(BTW, SM 2.38 isn't liking much SSL, I guess it is, out there, including here.)

@ Giorgio Maone
Giorgio, is it possible to make frame, iframe placeholders appear?
Is it possible to make separate permissions for frame and iframe in Settings?

@therube
In Firefox? I still can't.
