Latest FX Android update nuked NS

Post by Pleiades450 »

Fx 117.1.0
Updated on 12 Sept 2023 running in Samsung SM-F721B - Android 13, patched to 1 August 2023, with a massively obfuscating overlay UI - One UI 5.1.1, where Samsung flips heaps of beta settings over into
Gargle Playstore at the drop of a hat, just to keep us mugs on our toes. Just quietly, I trust Gargle Playstore about as far as I can throw it.
On opening Fx just now I find that NS has left the room.
All the checks appear to confirm that it is indeed a genuine Fx for Android, and the update was installed manually at the Playstore normal prompt.
The only addon installed has ever been NS, for a year. Fx only gets fired up when absolutely necessary, and that's about once a month, and every unused app gets closed immediately it's done its work - especially web facing ones.
- so I doubt that pocket-dialling has had anything to do with this phone's Fx losing NS.
If there's some action I've missed in my ignorance that's allowed NS to be uninstalled I apologise for this post.
Just thought I should report a possible bug.
EDIT: Closer look at the Fx behaviour gave a couple of missed items from the master hamburger drop down menu - in particular 'quit' - plus reinstated permission to send data to 'studies' and 'usage' urls after it had been expressly toggled off. I'd say that I've wiped a cache somewhere in error. Shame that there's no clear way to wall off web extensions from this kind of fat-fingering - if that's what caused NS to disappear.
