Well considering edge isn't intended to be a "web browser", but instead a data collection & revenue generating engine... (that happens to be able to browse the web).

Oh, lets not call it "NO ONE", FF certainly does collect information (of various sorts & does have in browser "ads", if you want to call it that), doing more & more so as time goes by. They just haven't (yet) caught up to the "Chromes" .


So you use the least compromised "Chrome" - which happens to be FF, currently.

Thanks for the link therube. Sounds like those people didn't find any way to actually disable Buy Now Pay Later. Is it possible (short of uninstalling Edgium)?

Ok, thinking about Edgium this way would make the "transparent ads" integration make sense. But I still can't get my head around this Buy Now Pay Later thing

I have begun to think about Edge as a usable browser - until this "buy now, pay later" nonsense. And now there are these transparent ads.

Not long ago I would have been surprised, if anyone told me, I'd think of a Microsoft browser in a positive way. Maybe I have been misled by the very good Visual Studio Code which is from Microsoft, too. Now I am not sure, if Visual Studio Code may also be a deceptive package and if I should return to Vim, which I am very sure of, that it is no deceptive package.

That's nothing new, although you'd have thought Microsoft would have learnt their lesson in the late 90s.
