FX 78.10.1esr displaying FOUC since 11.2.4

Post by jezjgordon »

FX 78.10.1esr is displaying FOUC (flash of unformatted content) for any web page I go to, with versions 11.2.6 and 11.2.7. If I disable NS it goes away. When I revert to 11.2.4 it goes away.

Does the presence of this problem depend on your setting of the "unrestricted CSS" capability for the site you're visiting?

flash of unformatted content
Not quite sure what you mean by that, but with a (casual) look, I'm not noticing anything out of the ordinary.

Win7 (no Aero), 78.10.1, 11.2.7.rc1.

(I don't think I've done anything to FF [except to maybe turn off some of its spyware] or to NoScript, so I should be pretty much at whatever defaults are.)

Having the same issue. Just started within the past week.

Windows 10 (with April updates) with Firefox 88.0.1 (64-bit) and uBlock Orgin (and NoScript). No other major changes.

Tried to attach an example of "FOUC" - where the text with out much formatting is displayed for .5 - 1 second or so before the page renders, but didn't see an option to attach files. Posted it here - https://easyupload.io/dyjpto

By the way - NoScript is wonderful. Thank you!

The "unrestricted CSS" setting is NOT enabled for any of the sites with this issue.

... and (as a test) does enabling it make the issue go away?

Just to be clear, this is quite expected because CSS checks must be (obviously) performed before the styling is actually applied, and in some circumstances this is necessarily be asynchronous, causing the FOUC.

Enabling "Unrestricted CSS" in the Default settings solved the issue.

I enabled the setting - problem went away; I disabled the setting - problem came back; repeated twice so it seems like that is it.

1. Thank you!

2. Not sure what caused that setting to change. I haven't messed with the NoScript settings in months, maybe even a year.
