Chrome: NoScript versus Google Docs

Post by dhgr »

I've recently started having a problem where NoScript doesn't seem to get along with Google Docs (https://docs.google.com/): When I have a document open, the document won't display, and Google Docs shows a banner "JavaScript isn't enabled in your browser, so this file can't be opened. Enable and reload." This happens even if I set NoScript to "Disable restrictions globally". However, if I disable NoScript, the problem goes away; and if I then re-enable NoScript, the problem comes back. If I restart the browser, the problem goes away.

(I don't know if it's related, but I got a similar problem with the captcha confirmation prompt on the NoScript forum post page: An indication that my browser isn't properly configured for captcha. I haven't experimented with this problem as much, so I don't know if the symptoms are exactly the same.)

What might be going wrong here?

My environment: Windows 10 Home 1809; Google Chrome Version 79.0.3945.88 (Official Build) (64-bit); NoScript 11.0.11.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/79.0.3945.88 Safari/537.36

I'm getting a similar problem with mail.google.com: "JavaScript must be enabled in order for you to use Gmail in standard view. However, it seems JavaScript is either disabled or not supported by your browser." As with docs, the problem goes away only if I disable the NoScript extension.

I get "Blocked 0 of 0 items". The only domain listed by NoScript is google.com, which is Trusted; and my Trusted configuration enables everything. Nonetheless, I get the javascript warning.

Yes: Adblock Plus, Ghostery, Google Docs Offline, List Opened Tabs, McAfee® WebAdvisor, Quick Tab, Session Buddy

If I disable all extensions except NoScript, I still have the problem.

Could you share with me (by PM or email) your NoScript Options>Export file? Thanks.

I've tried to reproduce with the settings you sent me (on Chrome, correct?), but it works for me.
Would you please check whether the problem persists also with 11.0.13, which contains a couple of important Chrome-specific fixes?
Thanks!

Yes, this is with the Chrome browser. With a browser update (to 79.0.3945.117) and a NoScript extension update (to 11.0.13) Google Docs now works -- but the "Confirmation code" box when posting a reply to this site doesn't appear unless I disable NoScript ("Disable restrictions globally" doesn't help).

The problem has come back -- i.e., Google Docs is broken again unless I disable NoScript.
