CHROME: NoScript forgetting imported sites after restart

Post by fax_number »

Hi,

I'm using NoCript for Chrome and imported my site list from Firefox. Each time I shutdown my Browser and restart it NoScript seems to forget my imported site. Only sites that I added while using chrome are displayed. So I need to import my old setting every time I start my browser.
Chrome Version: 75.0.3770.100
NoScript: 11.0.1
OS: Mac OS Mojave 10.14.5
Thanks in advance for any help

I'm having the same issue, but I see that no one has responded to your question in two weeks!
Maybe the developer will get around to this problem.
By the way, I uninstalled NoScript from Chrome and then re-installed it, but that didn't solve the issue.

It's working fine for me with my reasonably big configuration file: importing is successful and the new settings are persisted across multiple browser restarts.
Could you please share (by PM or email) your export file for me to test?
Otherwise could you use the Extensions>NoScript>Details>Inspect views feature to check whether you get any error message upon import?

(I set 1 site to Trusted in FF. Exported.
Imported into Chrome 73. Saw it there, Trusted.
Quit Chrome. Restarted [& except for quirk in NoScript settings/Session Restore] that 1 site was still there, Trusted.)

(Win7, in case that matters.)

Giorgio Maone
I did as you suggested and found two files...one was an ui/options.html file and the other was named background page. I opened the html file but don't know what I'm looking at so have no idea if there are errors in all the jibberish.
How do I read this to see what errors, if any I am getting from importing the FF database?

Inspect the background page rather than the HTML file, and look in the Console tab for red error messages.

Inspect the background page rather than the HTML file, and look in the Console tab for red error messages.
I checked the file and it contains 31 errors all lookking the same:

log.js:12

Code: Select all

[NoScript] Cannot collect noscript activity data > Object Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist. undefined

I checked the file but there was nothing in it under the Console tab other than the following:

NoScript STARTED.

Anything else I can do to fix this?

I did some testing. As soon as the import file is larger than 13100 Bytes, the imported data is gone after the reboot and the former content is shown.
I really don't understand where the old data is coming from after it has been overwritten by the import file.
Can someone tell me where the setting and sites are stored on Mac OS?

(I don't know about 13100, precisely, but...)

Confirmed.
A large noscript_data.txt Import is not retained after import & restart with Chrome (73).

In my case, I tested that with 123,320 & 95,519 byte noscript_data.txt files.
Importing the same into FF is retained after browser restart.

No errors there nor in the console

I finally got 3 error messages in the Console view.
[NoScript] Cannot collect noscript activity data > Object Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist. undefined.
Anyone know what this means and if there is a fix so that I can import my FireFox Noscript data into Chrome and have Chrome remember.

Maybe after importing from NoScript, before Quitting Chrome, export from Chrome.
Quit Chrome & restart.
Import the export from Chrome, then restart Chrome & see if that happened to stick?

Did this multiple times but didn't work because the Chrome export is still too big.
