Recommended download manager companion

I hope I don't ask an already answered question, I have tried to search the forum before asking.
If appropriate, direct me to the corresponding post(s)/thread(s).

I would like to know which is the recommended download manager companion to work with FlashGot.
Answers could be : most users use this one, or FlashGot has been originally developed for ...
I don't want to start (yet) another endless thread on the preferred tool or on feature comparisons.
Just a recommendation on some facts like above is enough.
Worth to mention, BTW, that this companion should be free.
