I think I know how to fix it, but unluckily we need to wait until tomorrow evening because I'm currently on trip :(

The remaining issues should be fixed in latest development build 1.9.2.2.
Thanks for your help.

Impossible to reproduce with 1.9.2 again. :/
Yet, it's on the same computer/profile/shiretoko build.

But if you know it's fixed with this new version, then fine. Thanks. ;)

Well hopefully it has been addressed and if not, then let us know when you can reproduce it. Good luck. :)

Thank you for banning me. Very nice!!!
You can see i am not stupid.

After a day of research i got an answer of my problems
with Element Hiding on your Internet site.
http://noscript.net/getit#devel

Some Adblockplus Filter List developers told me you have
included something in the last tree Noscript Versions
witch disables all element hiding filter on you Site.
This is really user friendly... That is not the right way
you chose to go. I hope you come back an the right way
soon.

A disappointed user of noscript.

@thank you for banning me:
I don't believe you're stupid (whoever you are) and I hope you don't believe I've got a magic power to preemptively ban based on what they're about to post :)
More than 200 IPs have been accidentally banned some hours ago because of a violent Viagra spam wave including links to malware sites.
They should be all restored now, including yours hopefully (I just deleted all the bans with the same timestamps).

Regarding the ABP issue, it's been fixed in development builds as you already noticed.
An even better fix is going to be deployed with next stable release, i.e. in 2-3 days.

BTW, if you check recent Easylist sources, you'll notice they completely disabled everything (scripts, frames, AJAX and more) on all NoScript-related and FlashGot-related domains during the past two weeks, in a virulent escalation involving more than 30 different (documented) updates of their filters.
In facts, I'm gonna add a regular ABP whitelist filter for my sites with next NoScript and FlashGot updates, informing users both on AMO and on the release notes page, where I'll provide also instructions for ABP users to disable it if they wish so. Given the aggressive attack from Easylist, there's probably no other way to keep development of these two free extensions sustainable and also to provide some already planned dynamic features (e.g. domain reputation info pages from the NoScript menu) leveraging on those sites.

Am I missing something? This whole issue with ABP, how come I am not experiencing any issues when visiting noscript related sites? What is going on exactly with them escalating updates against noscript. Please share and in asgard if you want, I don't mind but I am concerned feel left out of the loop, can someone please update me on this.

@Giorgio: I always knew you were sadistic. I'm not surprised you ban randomly !

I've just read Easylist, I don't understand why noscript and informaction domains are present in this list. Have you asked Ares2 before to do anything ? If you don't want to, I can ask in its forum.

Wait a second... The problem we had, this weekend... was that because... you've tried to do some things to prevent AB+ to block Noscript.net and informaction.com ?

I think Easylist is going in the wrong direction if they blocked ads which are not bothering like this one:
http://software.informaction.com/data/u ... 3green.jpg

But I'm not sure that Noscript trying to interfer with AB+ is the right solution...

Because you're up-to-date with latest development version, where the issue is fixed.
What is going on exactly with them escalating updates against noscript?
The new guy behind Easylist, Ares2, who took on Rick's duty when he regrettably passed away, has been running a crusade against all the InformAction web sites in the past two weeks, issuing more than 30 updates (the ones I counted, even 4-5 per day) specifically targeted to noscript.net, flashgot.net, informaction.com and hackademix.net.
Current Easylist lines affecting InformAction sites are the following:

Code: Select all

/flashgot.net/*$script,subdocument,xmlhttprequest
/hackademix.net/*$script
/noscript.net/*$script,subdocument,xmlhttprequest
/oss.informaction.com/*
informaction.com/*$script,subdocument,xmlhttprequest,domain=flashgot.net|noscript.net|software.informaction.com
flashgot.net#*(href*=informaction)(href*=com)(href*=%62)
flashgot.net#*(href*=informaction)(href*=com)(href*=flashgot)
flashgot.net#*(href*=oss)(href*=informaction)(href*=com)
flashgot.net#ul(class=tla)
noscript.net#*(href*=informaction)(href*=com)(href*=%62)
noscript.net#*(href*=informaction)(href*=com)(href*=noscript)
noscript.net#*(href*=oss)(href*=informaction)(href*=com)
As you can see, pretty much everything is disabled.

1.9.2, together with the long awaited bookmark-based syncrhonization feature, deployed a countermeasure meant to prevent automated subscriptions from affecting these sites, which NoScript and FlashGot development depends upon. Unfortunately this countermeasure proved to be overzealous, because it unwillingly disabled also blocked objects reporting on these sites: therefore user was unable to block my ads even if he really wanted to (short of disabling active content using NoScript itself).
I promptly fixed this in subsequent development versions, which enable users to block ads on these sites as well if they wish to.
However I decided to make this work-around simpler and more apparent to users, for transparence sake: so next stable releases will just add an explicit whitelist site filter, also providing instructions about disabling such a filter for those ABP users who don't know how to do it and are determined not to see any ad supporting NoScript and FlashGot development.

@pirlouy:
there's no point in asking them why, it's "because ads are inherently bad and we don't care if we ban every web technology from your sites in order to block them".
And this is not an accident: as I said I've seen at least 30 different variants of the above piling up during the past two weeks. A lot of work, surely intentional.

I think a discussion with Ares2/Wladimir is needed.

For original 1.9.2 bug, in my case, the problem was the fact that no scripts at all were blocked on ALL sites. I almost block nothing with AB+ (I use it as an element listing), so this update prevented Noscript to work, and this is much more annoying that what you write. ;)

Wow it seems excessive and unnecessarily unfriendly. I mean I block most active content using NoScript and what is left over gets covered by ABP and never had any issues. It seems that if something crossed people would be a bit more "let's give the benefit of a doubt" rather than fly off the handle. Rick sadly did pass and I was hoping that Ares2 would be a good replacement but he has done a few things behind the scene even with me that I am not happy with but didn't think it would turn into a circus like this. Anyway, I hope it gets resolved because this is just silly and unnecessarily petty. I believe that speaking with Wladimir is necessary as this is reflecting very poorly on his application and endorsements. Keep me posted in PM if you don't mind, I'd like to help clear this up, this is ridiculous.

I already discussed this with Wladimir earlier today. He did not seem to have any problem with Easylist's escalation, and labeled my initial approach as "malware", which is quite excessive IMO. But on the other hand, I didn't feel very good myself with this solution either, and already had planned to replace it with the "explicit whitelist filter" which I explained above. He did not object to it, provided that it was explained to our common users rather than happening behind the scenes.

That was (obviously) unwanted, and likely a side effect of a concomitant Shiretoko bug (you've been the only one reporting it, fortunately).

Update:
they just (22:50) updated Easylist removing a few element hiding rules:

Code: Select all

< flashgot.net#*(href*=informaction)(href*=com)(href*=%62)
< flashgot.net#*(href*=oss)(href*=informaction)(href*=com)
< noscript.net#*(href*=informaction)(href*=com)(href*=%62)
< noscript.net#*(href*=oss)(href*=informaction)(href*=com)
All the script/subdocument/AJAX blocking is still in place, though.
Is Ares2 watching this topic? ;)
