NoScript compatibility problem with K9 Web Protection

Post by chrismt » Sat Apr 03, 2010 7:57 am

I am user of the latest build of Noscript with Mozilla Minefield, the latest build as of today

I have installed BlueCoat K9 Web Protection and have blocked some categories like porn, hacking sites, social networking sites etc

Whenever I visit Facebook.com I get a ABE warning and I cannot see the K9 Web Protection page that usually comes in place of the blocked site

Please fix this
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.3a4pre) Gecko/20100402 Minefield/3.7a4pre (.NET CLR 3.0.04506.30)

It cannot be "fixed" without seeing the ABE warning.

If the port number (2372) is always consistent, please insert this rule in the beginning of NoScript Options|Advanced|ABE's SYSTEM ruleset:

Code: Select all

Site 127.0.0.1:2372
Accept

Should the port always change, turn the above into

Code: Select all

Site 127.0.0.1:*
Accept
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3

Should I write the ruleset under system or user?

I didn't have this problem with the previous version of NoScript

When I wrote this under the SYSTEM

K9 Web Protection is being overridden

I can access Facebook even though I have blocked it with K-9 Web Protection

SYSTEM

That's not possible, unless something changed recently in this K9 thing as well.
The warning message says K9 tries to open a local site from facebook.com (it's a forced redirection, I guess), therefore ABE's anti-Crosszone protection kicks in.

That's absolutely weird. Does this problem persist also if you disable ABE?

This problem went away after I disabled ABE and restarted Mozilla Minefield

I would advise you to download K9 Web Protection and use its default protection and try NoScript

So, that people like me will have an easier life using NoScript :D
