[Resolved] purplestats.com appearing in noscript permissions list on all webpages

Post by Boup »

Hi

I have had this weird thing for some time that, whatever the web page, in the noscript permissions pop up list, purplestats.com always appears. This site does not even seem to exist. When looking at the page source, there is no trace of purplestats. I ran a malware scan, no sign either.

So where can noscript pick up this site? Is there a way, like a log, to see where noscript encountered the site when scanning a page, so I can track it down?

Thanks

Most likely another extension, or a malware installed alongside your browser, is trying to inject scripts from that site in every page. Please check and let us know.

Start FF in Safe Mode.
If purplestats is gone, then most likely it is an extension.
(If so, it sure would be nice to know which extension is causing it.)

If purplestats is still there, then as a test, create a new, clean Profile, open that Profile & see if purplestats also turns up in there?

Thanks for the replies. Disabling all extensions except noscript, purplestats was gone. Enabling one by one I eventually found the culprit (youtube adblocker) and removed it, re-enabled all others, and now no sign of purplestats any more. So that's all it was... Great that noscript was able to detect it although it wasn't on an open webpage but in an extension!
Many thanks

No, actually I checked on firefox's addons website to report it, and it wasn't there anymore - I guess it had been reported before and withdrawn.

Maybe this one then, YouTube Downloader Z.
But if that, it says it was "Blocked on Jul 06, 2020".

Do you block Mozilla, it's blocklists?

And Mozilla, being so open, so forthcoming gives you all the (non)details, of course, Bug 1650840: Extension block request: YouTube Downloader Z.
