Install New Version Resets Temporary Permissions

Post by therube »

Installing a New Version of NoScript (at the least) Resets Temporary Permissions & refreshes associated pages.

Should it?

(I was in the process of buying 1,000 shares of Trump Oil Revenues U.S.R.S pgp LTD & NoScript updated, & there went my billiiooones dolares.)

I'm afraid there's no way for any WebExtension not to reset data on update / disable-reenable without committing it to some kind of permanent storage (even sessionStorage, which is supposed to survive page reloads, gets wiped out on extension update when used on a background page).
Since we strictly want temporary permission not to hit the disk (aside the unavoidable RAM swapping), they're bound to be reset on updates.
However I can, and will, prevent NoScript from reloading tabs in the middle of a browsing session on next update ;)
