dead (actually: wrong) link to MR Tech's Local Install

Post by miroR »

At this faq entry:
https://noscript.net/faq#qa2_6
the links under:
For users of Firefox 2.x and 3.x, even more control over updates and other aspects of extension management is given by the excellent MR Tech's Local Install Extension by Mel Reyes.
are something else, and not what previously seems to have been. Put these together back to see (not earning them clicks):
http://www.mrtech.com/extensions/local_install/
EDIT: That's author's own page, putting the link back together, sorry!

I'd be interested to learn if that information which was, apparently, once there, is available somewhere else.

Thanks!

That page is in the Wayback machine. From there, I came up with this - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=431456

The links to their website just redirect to the homepage, but the AMO links still work.
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

Thanks! I looked it up.

Also, those pages by Mel may be only temporarily missing, since half a year ago, they all worked:

https://web.archive.org/web/20160419180 ... extensions
which is: 2016-04-19 18:02:42

But I'm new to NoScript, and I'm not sure I really need extension on top of not-too-simple NoScript.
(Actually I thought it was something else that MR Tech's Local Install was about...)
And also it appears to be Windows only, and I'm on Linux.

Thanks, NoScript feels exciting!

But people seem to be using other extensions/plugins instead, now, as it reads on the last page:
"[Ext] MR Tech Toolkit 6.0.4 (11-9-09)"
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &start=975

Anyway, once I familiarize with NoScript (an along it also RequestPolicy Continued and Privacy Badger, and...), all suggested to me at:

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Tor

I might be back for what I really needed, which is a little more complex and unusual...

Let me just give a hint what I really need...

It's here:

Air Gaps (on Schneier on Security)
https://www.schneier.com/blog/archives/ ... _gaps.html

and my implementation in Gentoo is here:

Air-Gapped Gentoo Install, Tentative
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-987268.html

the essential part being here:
Postfix smtp/TLS, Bkp/Cloning Mthd, Censorship/Intrusion
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-9 ... ml#7613044

and I'm looking for a way to copy over the installs and the policies of my Firefox plugins/extensions, when I update the ever-only-ofline Air-Gap master machine, before I clone it back into the online machine (of the same hardware).

But I first need to familiarize with these extensions/plugins, and that may take a while.

Regards!
