GMail problem (#500)
GMail problem (#500)
Hi!
In the last few days I noticed GMAil giving this message in a yellow bar on the top of the page:
Oops… the system encountered a problem (#500) - Retrying in 15s
This page on Google support claims:
An 'Oops (#500)' error is generally caused by a conflicting browser extension or by a problem with your network.
I installed NoScript about a week ago, so it may be related to this issue.
I tried to allow scripts globally, but that did not help.
The error happens, when Google tries to "save data", like marking a mail as read or sending mail. Just reading messages works fine.
I will now try to disable NoScript as a plugin.
In IE8 GMail works without problems.
Regards,
David

OK, this is "funny".
I disabled the NoScript add-on (restarted FF), and then GMail worked fine.
Then I enabled NoScript (restarted FF), and... GMail works!
Now there is even a bar at the bottom, that some scripts were blocked (before there was no such bar), but it works nevertheless.
I guess one of those ghost bugs, that you see once, then never again...

Ah, now I get it again.
I log in, open an new (unread) message and after a second I get the Error #500. I guess google tries to mark the message as read. There are no bars from NoScript this time.

Re: GMail problem (#500)
It may very well be a network issue (I use GMail and I can't reproduce).
However could you upgrade to latest development build and check whether it appears to help?

Make sure either google.com or mail.google.com are allowed to run scripts. Gmail runs fine for me with only the latter enabled.

google.com is on the whitelist by default.
It is not a network problem, because at the same time I can use GMail just fine in IE.

Maybe an extensions conflict?xerces8 wrote:google.com is on the whitelist by default.

If it works on a clean profile with just NoScript installed, you may want to try Standard Diagnostic.

Re: GMail problem (#500)
I have also problems with gmail for almost 4 days in a row, using Firefox 4 nightlies. I tried with your stable and dev builds. With NoScript enabled Gmail does not load.
NoScript stable build on Firefox 3.6.10 works fine.
There's a couple of bugs with Gmail that I've been following because they were opened when my problems started, maybe there's some correlation (or not).
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=595672
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596460
Also, that message, "Found, the document has moved here" started again with today's nightly and your dev build 2.0.3.1rc4.
*Mac OS X 10.6
hope it helps.

Cannot reproduce.pirlouy wrote:Gmail is still NOT accessible with rc7 in my case.
Could you clear all your cookies and allow mail.google.com, then retry?
If it still doesn't work, please send me your NoScript Options|Export file.

Re: GMail problem (#500)
Hello,
I have also experienced same problem as pirloury.
So I made some investigations, and I noticed this problem is dependent on the firefox's setting in my case.
When "Remenber passwords for sites" is on, I can open gmail normally and fail when it is off.
I'm not sure this helps investigating, but report as a possible cause of the problem.

Indeed, as karon noticed, "Remember passwords" is not enable for me. I'll try the next build and comment here.
