blank dialogs with FF 103.0.2 and NoScript 11.4.9

Post by Wertz927 »

Hello,
I'm using NoScript for years. During the last weeks I get more and more blank (or empty) dialogs:
The heading reads 'Erweiterung (NoScript) - - Mozilla Firefox'.
Below the NoScript logo - right aligned.
Then an option control (round, called radio button) without any text following.
Then a check mark control (square shaped) without any text following.
Then an OK and a Cancel button.

No matter what I select and click - the only way to get rid of that dialog is to click at the 'x' control in the upper right corner of that dialog. With reloading the page the same dialog comes up again.

Does anyone know what this means and how I can get rid of the strange behaviour? This way to work with FF and NoScript it's very annoying :(

Best regards

This seems some kind of localization-related problem/bug. Does it go away if you force English as the browser language?

Thank you for your response.

No, even if the FF language set to English the dialogue remains empty. And, even if there would be string problems caused by localization bugs - shouldn't the options and buttons have any reaction?

These empty dialogues occur more often since some days and at different computers. A normal usage of FF is nearly impossible because many clicks lead to such an empty dialogue ... So I feel forced to use an other browser without noscript :(

It's quite strange - obviously I'm the only person with that problem, because Google doesn't show actual references of that issue...

Any more ideas?

Please create a clean profile from scratch. Install only NoScript latest development build, leaving all the defaults.
Does the problem still exist?
If not, what if you then import your NoScript settings into the clean profile using the Import and Export buttons in NoScript Options?
If that still doesn't reproduce the problem, it's not a NoScript issue... try Standard Diagnostic (leaving NoScript enabled) to isolate and correct the real cause.

Let us know, thanks.
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

Hello barbaz,

thank you for you response and sorry for my late response - I was very busy during the last weeks so I didn't see your response until today

I haven't done your instructions yet regarding the new clean FF profile with the default NoScript settings... But in the meantime with NoScript V 11.4.11 the problem seems to be solved:
Instead of the empty dialogue now the 'Cross-tab Identity Leak Protection' dialogue appears correctly :) So I presume that these former empty dialogues came from a very early implementation state of that feature.

I'll keep your diagnostic instructions in mind for possible future issues

Thanks a lot for your effort ;)
