Slow loading of Noscript Setting

Post by Redback813 »

My issue is when access noscript setting in both Firefox and Brave browsers that it can take a very long time to access the setting, I think it due to the size of my personal setting, if I export the noscript to a backup folder the raw file is roughly about 900kb in size. I have trim some information in noscript but it doesn't seem to make a differences in loading time when access the setting section, is there a fix to this issue.

Brave is up to date
Version 1.17.73 Chromium: 87.0.4280.67 (Official Build) (x86_64)

Firefox
Version 82.0.3 (64-bit)
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 11_0_1) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/87.0.4280.67 Safari/537.36

Would you mind sending me your NoScript Options>Export file for examination (my email address is listed on the top right of https://maone.net)?
Thanks.

Thank you for sending your file.
It is almost 900KB big and contains more than 30,000 entries (mostly marked as UNTRUSTED).
I suspect you've automated some way the population of the UNTRUSTED list, otherwise I would doubt of your sanity :D

Please understand NoScript has never been designed (let alone optimized) to be used this way,yth but rather to keep a relatively short list of TRUSTED sites and keep everything else at bay by DEFAULT.
A sites list with more than one thousand entries is already unusual for the "normal" NoScript usage pattern.

BTW, in your case, since your DEFAULT preset (which doesn't actually store any entry) and your TRUSTED one have exactly the same capabilities (none), why don't you just ditch your UNTRUSTED list completely and rely on the fact any unkown website will be regarded exactly as if it was UNTRUSTED?

Okay! I wasn't aware of the limitations in that aspect of the software which is good to know.
Thanks you for your time.
