Can JS Be Turned Off Per Page Rather Than Per Site/Systemwide

Post by Dirk »

Seems to me that NS lets you turn off Javascript per domain and that is spread over your entire system. Can it be per page? There is a very common use scenario where this would be incredibly useful:

Chicagotribune.com contains a nasty bug ;) that forces you to have an account to read articles. If you turn JS off for chicagotribune.com domain it fixes this bug ;). But with Javascript off, it largely breaks all the images of the index page. So it would be great to have JS on for the index page and off for all other pages.

How do I achieve this requirement, which would be useful for other sites as well, especially news sites, with NS?

Thank you for your time.

NoScript is a security tool, it's not for bypassing paywalls.

So NoScript is intentionally lacking in features to preserve firewalls? :ugeek:

As configured, it is already bypassing Chicago Tribune's "firewall" perfectly, it's just causing images on the index page not to be displayed.

err.. wat? Image

Imagine you see someone trying to cut down a tree with a dinner knife. They explain to you that it works, but it would be useful if the knife's seration could automatically move back and forth. When you inform them that dinner knives are not for tree removal, they say "So dinner knives are intentionally lacking in features to preserve trees?"

... or, they could just switch to a chain saw and have everything.

NoScript's purpose has nothing to do with "firewalls", it makes no sense to judge its feature set in terms of that measure. The feature you are requesting does not have security benefit.
