javascript.enabled : leave it as true ?

Post by PreferPrivacy » Thu Nov 22, 2018 10:02 pm

I just want to confirm that it's safe to leave javascript.enabled=true in Firefox (about:config area), and I can still feel confident that NoScript will continue to disable javascript for all sites that I don't explicitly whitelist. (Yes, I have "script" unchecked in the Default profile.)

I kinda think the above goes without saying, but I just wanted to ask anyway to be sure, then put it to rest.

Thanks.

Yes it's safe. If you set that pref to false, NoScript won't be able to allow the scripts you want.
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!

Thank you for the confirmation.

And in my quick testing disabling that setting, it seemed to behave just as you suggested: overriding NoScript's attempt to enable JS for sites I'd whitelisted. So I reverted to the default.
