[RESOLVED] Problem at cbssports with NS build 10.1.9.2rc1
[RESOLVED] Problem at cbssports with NS build 10.1.9.2rc1
I just noticed a new problem when opening pages with videos at cbssports.com after updating NoScript to version 10.1.9.2rc1. The videos don't play. Here are a couple of examples.

The problem occurs even after reloading the page or disabling "restrictions on the tab" (Edited). I tested with a new Firefox profile without NoScript and cbssports.com is working well, there is no issue with the site. There have been reloading issues at cbssports before but for the last couple of months everything had been working very well at the site with NoScript and Firefox.

Then it is surely not a NoScript issue..bo elam wrote:The problem occurs even after [...] disabling NoScript.

Barbaz, the issue doesnt occur IF NoScript is not installed. Test the links I posted.
By the way, I meant "After disabling restrictions on the tab".

I tested your second link, and I *do* see the issue in Firefox 61.0.2, clean profile without NoScript installed.bo elam wrote:Barbaz, the issue doesnt occur IF NoScript is not installed. Test the links I posted.
Ok thanks for clarifying. ("disable NoScript" means "Tools > Add-ons Manager > NoScript > Disable")bo elam wrote:By the way, I meant "After disabling restrictions on the tab".
Maybe your NoScript is blocking something that my DNS blacklist is also blocking?

That's not it.Try resizing your browser.
See if the clip does not then appear?
(Seems to me, some browser, some site, ran into that issue.)
Works in SeaMonkey, NoScript 5, scripts Allowed Globally.
(My freakin'... they must have a miner on that site.)
Works in FF 61, NoScript 10.1.9.2rc2, scripts Allowed Globally.
(My freakin'... they must have a miner on that site.)
I got it (by allowing individual domains).
No way to capture the list, I suppose?
What a beast. Sorry, but why would anyone go through the trouble.

Re: Problem at cbssports with NS build 10.1.9.2rc1
I am in 61.0.2 and updated now to NoScript 10.1.9.2rc2. What I reported earlierl I am also seeing it in my W7. So, I see the problem in W10 64 bits and W7 32 bits. I think something must of changed in the pages at the site as yesterday all was well (even with NS 10.1.9.2rc1). And now, even with earlier stable NS versions, I cant play the videos unless NS is gone, using a new profile.therube wrote: Works in FF 61, NoScript 10.1.9.2rc2, scripts Allowed Globally.

To me, it is worth it setting that site to the nitty gritty as I visit it every day. What you see below as Trusted is all I allow in that site to get what I want out of it. Setting it up like that has worked well since version 10 came out. But right now the site is not working for me anymore.therube wrote: I got it (by allowing individual domains).

Thats interesting and different than what I see. Because with new profile, in both, W10 and W7, videos play well.barbaz wrote: I tested your second link, and I *do* see the issue in Firefox 61.0.2, clean profile without NoScript installed.
Perhaps. I also tested, disabling in Tools/Addons and Remove/Unistall NoScript (without restarting the browser), and the videos still dont play. I uninstalled NoScript running Firefox in a sandbox so cant restart the browser, did it that way which is not a perfect test as I would rather not uninstall it for real. But anyway, with new profile, videos play fine.barbaz wrote: Maybe your NoScript is blocking something that my DNS blacklist is also blocking?

Without NoScript installed and with fresh restart of the browser:
Regular window: video plays fine.
Private browsing window: exactly same problem as in the images.

Confirmed.
Then its tracking protection, or some such kind of stuff.
And note that it was noted that Safe Mode (presumably in Quantum) disables tracking protection.
(And that is why when I tested in my regular Profile - in Safe Mode, that the video did work.)
So this is not a NoScript issue.

The strict list of tracking protection blocks embedded YouTube and Vimeo videos (and probably other videos as well) for about two or three months now (exception: youtube-nocookie.com videos should work).therube wrote:Then its tracking protection, or some such kind of stuff.
Maybe this is relevant here.

Re: Problem at cbssports with NS build 10.1.9.2rc1
So, I guess everyone is experiencing the issue with videos at cbssports when NoScript is working, right?
skriptimaahinen, any suggestion on what to do? Reading is whats most important at cbssports but the quality of the videos get better during football season, and football season starts tomorrow.

Re: Problem at cbssports with NS build 10.1.9.2rc1
I am experiencing the problem without an installation of NoScript and with activated Tracking Protection (using the strict list). Without TP the videos are playing. Therefore, it need not be a NoScript issue.

Re: Problem at cbssports with NS build 10.1.9.2rc1
No, I do manage to get the videos to play when NoScript is on. I just need to allow metric **** ton of domains, including facebook.com and facebook.net for who knows what reason. Also "Disable restrictions for this tab" works fine.
However, I do see the problem if I have "inadequate" amount of the domains allowed.
So it looks like you just need to allow more domains, but since you said that even using "Disable restrictions for this tab" does not help, it could be something else.

Thanks, that would explain why I couldn't get it working at all.skriptimaahinen wrote:I just need to allow [...] including facebook.com and facebook.net
@bo elam, if you do allow more domains individually (or by repeatedly setting all to Temp. Trusted), do you still see the issue?skriptimaahinen wrote:So it looks like you just need to allow more domains, but since you said that even using "Disable restrictions for this tab" does not help, it could be something else.
Also, do you have anything un-checked in your settings for the Trusted preset?

Just what part did we miss?
New Profile
Load https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl- ... -top-spot/
Video Plays
Tools | Options | Privacy & Security -> Tracking Protection ---> ALWAYS
Reload https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl- ... -top-spot/
Video Fails
NoScript is not involved, period.
Now if you use NoScript, the video still works - after you allowed needed domains AND assuming you don't have Tracking Protection enabled (or some other blocking - other then NoScript) going on that cbssports does not like.
