Adding fetch would be enough for the preset to stay put, remain as you set it up.

Thanks, appreciate this and other information you and barbaz have provided. Tricky adapting to a new UI with new terms-definitions after all these years with NS.

Kukla, I can tell is going to be easy for you to adapt to the new version. I am going to tell you a secret. When I first installed version 10, I got into Giorgios head and tried to figure out what his idea was behind every option and button in the new UI. After that, I started looking around, and real quick, I found how to do what I used to do in version 5. And all made sense. Even though the UI looks different and we are using different names for calling the same thing, is all basically the same as before. Same steps. I ll finish by saying, you are going to find that there are things that are better now than before. For example, the Custom preset is something that I know I am going to be using more and more, I can tell. Also, having easy access to Untrusted domains makes easy to keep track of them. Before, it was difficult to do so.

By default, the Default preset comes with frame, fetch and other as allowed (boxes ticked). But you can set it up as in the Custom picture you posted. Thats how I have it, the web works just fine for me. You should check the preset to make sure you haven't changed it by mistake. In latest beta, changing the Default preset is a little easier than in the version you have. Look.

But for now, you must make changes using one of the domains in the list of domains under Options.

I been trying to understand the new version by reading posts and trying things out. When I click on the NS icon and then the tools to right of green reload, I don't get the screen with preset customization (permission apply globally to all sites sharing a preset)

I am on NS 10.1.6.2 and FF 57.0.4 Windows 7
From the picture it looks like I should have 3 tabs and set for default trusted and untrusted. More that likely I would take defaults, but was looking around to see what they were. I don't really understand all the 8 check boxes anyway.

The change in NoScript that placed the presets as in the picture, was introduced in Developmental/Beta version 10.1.6.3rc2. You can install the latest if you like, from here:

Thanks, I now have that loaded and see what is in the post. Now I will need to study up on what those 8 check boxes mean. I have 36 years programming in mainframes, assembly, COBOL, Fortran, EDL and even pure machine code. Retired in 2004, bet if I knew JAVA those 8 check boxes would make more sense, guess I should study up or leave them alone. Never had problems learning new programming languages, just different syntax.

So far no really big issues with new version, little different, but have seen lots of changes over the years. First programming job was using punched cards and had to read binary and do math with hexadecimal. Actually used, but didn't wire plugboards for a short time. Guess that really shows my age.

I may be getting the hang of the new UI--sort of--but one thing that I find puzzling is that in v.5 Blocked Objects would often appear with a number of different selections for font, the safest being the font, or fonts, generated by the site itself, external fonts being possibly suspect. But now with the Trusted pre-set, should one check font (screenshot below shows that I don't--only allow the minimum), it would appear to be all or nothing for fonts, not just the site font (s), but any and all others. Not sure if this is the case, but would like some clarification. Seems that if this is true, this might be a security risk. What font or fonts are actually being allowed, should one have this checked in the Trusted pre-set?

Also, had it bookmarked, but lost it somehow. There was a link to definitions for all the different items, "object, media, frame, font, webgl (never allowed) fetch, other" Can someone please give me that link again.

I been studying up on two of them so far, no single place I would recommend. I believe I got a small grasp on fetch and how it works, then started on webgl which seems like it could be a troublemaker. But I have been all over the place, no single site to explain. Maybe I need to find a java scripts for beginners?

Spam filter is playing up (no idea why, not seeing anything objectionable, just copied the post) so can't post the information directly here. See second post from barbaz. Gives some basic idea. If this is correct, looks like font in preset is external fonts only. Suppose that means that site fonts are allowed, if font is checked.
