not a quantum jump, yet

Post by lordfrettchen »

hello folks,

for years this plugin has escorted me - as ff57 came out and i realized it has gone for compatibility reasons, i immediately turned back to ff52. now i am fighting this whole week with its new functioning. and i am near to frustration...
(it's like stepping back to free-ad-based-tv from pay-tv ^^)

many local hosted sites (vmware vcenter, smartermail, etc) and more sites out there in the world (trello.com, george.sparkasse.at, indiegogo, ......................................) only work when i generally allow scripts. thats horrible. i had a long grown set of noscript-whitelist-rules. by now i can hardly surf an hour on well known sites without disabling noscript - thats not how its supposed to work, right?

i hope you quickly find the peace to work hard on the obviously new code base - if vacation is needed to accomplish that, i hereby ask every user to do a small donation so you people can afford it. i already did one last week, a few bucks for years of securing my browser and keeping annoying content away from the screen? totally worth it!!

1. Which version of noscript specifically?
2. what do your presets (default, untrusted and trusted) look like.
3. Confirm that the check marks set there are also like that in the debug log in the options.

Also this guide: https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... =7&t=23974
Is pretty helpful in understanding what is going on.

hi again,

beginning from 10.1.2, got worse with 10.1.3 (not rc) - but today with 10.1.4 it seems muuuuch better already (george.sparkasse.at and indiegogo already worked very well, just not my smartermail), or do i misinterpret something? i mean it does not just allow everything, right?? :)

normally i trust nothing, so i use default and only allow what i really need to view the sites correctly - of course sometimes the sites change and one has to adapt the settings, but i just do not like any pop-ups, backgrounds, themes whatever

i set the debug check mark by now

thanks for your reply ;)

I was asking about what specific "capabilities" you have assigned the presets "default, untrusted and trusted". (which boxes you have checked in each)
Sometimes on changing versions these boxes have changed in the past to unwanted configurations.

Also 10.1.4 has a pretty serious bug:

Some script-sources are not shown in the list, but treated as default/blocked.
Patch inc.
Back to 10.1.3 for the time being I guess.
