Firefox 56 on OS X 10.10.5

This may be helpful, though: I see that on Firefox startup, the icon shows in a brief flash in the toolbar before disappearing.
Can it be found in the "Customize" panel?
Have you got any error message in your Browser Console (Ctrl+Shift+J) on Firefox startup?

hey Georgio, tytyty for the no script, I've used it for many years. :D No problems with the disappearing icon on my toolbar, of course I updated to 5.1.2 a few days ago, when I realized it was available.

But my wife's pc has the disappearing icon, totally gone it seems, except it seems to continue to be shown in the 'extensions area' of the FFox Add-ons area, I haven't removed & reinstalled the no script on her machine~~~haven't done anything to it yet. I'm just sort of waiting for it to somehow 'fix itself' hahaha

wild:)

On Firefox 56.0 64-bit, on Win 10 1703.

I noticed the disappearing NoScript icon too. If I reinstalled the plugin, I'd get the icon, again, but it would disappear the next time I opened the browser. Whenever I launched Firefox, I was brought to the NoScript page which stated that I was using NoScript 5.1.1 and should upgrade to 5.1.2. I checked my Extensions and 5.1.2 was already installed. Disabled NoScript and closed the browser. Reopened the browser, enabled NoScript, closed the browser again. After re-opening the browser again, I now have the NoScript icon and no 5.1.1 error message page. I have closed and opened the browser several times and the icon comes back every time now.

Just providing what worked for me.

i think it's a bit more than just disappearing icon. when the icon wasn't available, stuff like kaspersky's safe surfing icons are displayed in google search links for example (they are normally blocked by noscript)
the safe mode thing worked though.

just copied it into the address bar. Same result as above (not allowed) even if no "new tab" is opened. I can download it with jdownloader but I don't know how to handle the .xpi file I got

You just need to drag and drop the file onto a browser window.

NoScript 5.1.3 should install just fine in FF 45.
FF uses a default list of sites that are allowed to install extensions.
noscript.net is not one of them.

By default you should be getting a "Firefox prevented this site from asking you to install software on your computer." prompt.

You would need to Allow that.
And then there should be a secondary prompt, prompting for the Install itself.

My NoScript icons also disappered. Firefox 56.0 (64-bit) on Windows 10 (64-bit).

Browser console tells me multiple times:

And when I click on the link on the right side, this window opens (note the automatically selected line at the end of the file):

I readlly hope this is related to the issue. I know how frustrating it is to not being able to reproduce a bug :(

Oh, I am using NoScript 5.1.2.

And when I disable NoScript, restart Firefox and then enable NoScript, the browser console says:

I too have just had this issue and my fix was:
open notepad and copy the link the latest version: https://secure.informaction.com/downloa ... -5.1.2.xpi
remove the noscript completely
open again and then copy/paste the link into the address bar and install it
thats it, this worked for me .. I tried the disable open close route, but this didnt work. The full remove and install did.
All the best!

Ok, let me try that again <slaps own head for rushing>

1. copy the download link to the new version of noscript to a notepad
2. remove noscript from firefox
3. close firefox
4 reopen firefox
5. copy/paster url of 1. aove to the address bar and hit return
6. install and I was done.

I have closed and opened firefox several times since this and the icon is there and working as normal for me now each time.

Once again, sorry for my 'as clear as mud' instructions first time around
