Firefox 57 and NoScript
Re: Firefox 57 and NoScript
After being on the web for many years using Noscript, the only reason I knew websites were bad was because of the main domains listed per site. Now having tried to use this current Firefox without it, I see websites are even worse. Load orders are not optimized, pages constantly shifting around, causing you to click on the wrong things because some image was on a delay load from an external domain. Videos playing on every site. Heck I even encountered a hover redirect ad for the first time in my life.
It seems that the www is not usable without Noscript or other types of blocking agents. I will just have to wait until a new version comes out to use on this computer. But I may end up just ditching Firefox to go to Chrome instead. I use Pale Moon at home with NoScript so that seems to be safe for now.

Re: Firefox 57 and NoScript
If you're after ad blocking, it's worth installing a WebExtension-compatible adblocker anyway, since NoScript actually blocks ads only as a side effect. From the top 10, Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin should work fine on Firefox 57.

You could temporarily roll back to Firefox 56.0.2 until NoScript Webext comes out.psykolow wrote:hello, hum so someone can explain whats the trick to get back our lovely noscript?

Every old major release has critical security vulnerabilities. But NoScript makes most of them moot.ng4ever wrote:Firefox 56.0.2 has critical security vulnerabilities.
If this sort of thing concerns you, you can use Firefox 52 ESR instead. Required reading before switching to Firefox 52 ESR - https://forums.informaction.com/viewtop ... 936#p90936

Re: Firefox 57 and NoScript
I just wanted to say, Thanks Giorgio. Take your time, in my book, NoScript comes first, Firefox after. I use Firefox because of NoScript. I ll be waiting patiently for NoScript 10 to be released, and will update to Firefox 57 afterward. I think thats the proper thing to do.

Re: Firefox 57 and NoScript
I cannot describe with words how much worse my browsing experience has become without you next to me I never knew how much I'd miss NoScript until FF auto-updated! I just donated to the cause... keep up the good work, boys! Anxiously awaiting the day I get my preferred internet experience back...

Re: Firefox 57 and NoScript
When this NoScript finally releases, will we need to re-add it as a new add-on or it will auto update if we have the legacy one installed?
I still don't 100% understand why it requires such development effort to begin with - other add-ons including Ghostery, Adblock Plus, some YouTube video downloader etc all seemed to still work immediately.

Re: Firefox 57 and NoScript
If you can't hold out until the new version of noscript, the developer (blue) build of Firefox still supports it. The current build is 58.0b4.
