Stop clearclick protection of embedded Youtube videos.
Stop clearclick protection of embedded Youtube videos.
How do I prevent ClearClick protection on embedded Youtube videos, on any site at all, and only on embedded Youtube videos? I still want the protection otherwise.

Re: Stop clearclick protection of embedded Youtube videos.
That may not be entirely possible in current implementation without some tweaking.
At the moment CC applies to every site or none because it is part of the additional protection offered.
If you could use the report feature of the CC to send in the data on where you encountered it, and then provide us the report # here, Giorgio can take a look at the triggers and see if there is a way to mitigate it. But please keep in mind, he is very busy working on the new extension model pushed by Mozilla and that has most of his time and resources tied into the mission at hand so any new features, or modifications will be a low priority at best to be done after that migration is completed and released.
But at least with the data at hand, it can be looked at after the dust settles to see if it something that can be achieved without loss of functionality and weakening the protections. In the meantime we'll revisit the feature to see if there is a way to do that for you as workaround but I am not hopeful on that.

@GµårÐïåñ: Embedded Youtube videos aren't always iframes?

I'm aware but not seeing the point you are trying to make. Elaborate?barbaz wrote:@GµårÐïåñ: Embedded Youtube videos aren't always iframes?

If they are always frames, couldn't the OP just add to clearClick.subexceptions to solve their problem?
That said, reporting is still useful. Otherwise Giorgio won't be able to tell whether it's a ClearClick bug.

Yes, that would be the added code that is not by default implemented.GµårÐïåñ wrote:... without some tweaking.
Correct, in the least we know if it is a legit bug or not, at the most it might reveal a way forward to modify/add/enhance/tweak/etc the feature if deemed appropriate.barbaz wrote:That said, reporting is still useful. Otherwise Giorgio won't be able to tell whether it's a ClearClick bug.
