Re: Future of NoScript? Can it survive this?
The Verge link came up broken- but it is clear that you- along with the rest of us are horrified at what they plan to do. They announced it as if they would be able to incorporate a few Chrome extensions- a browser with a much smaller catalog. In reality it means they are going to completely nuke thousands of extensions that are written in what is probably a better language anyways. They already are making life hell for developers and in all reality this is going to mean the death of thousands of extensions- at least if people continue to torment themselves with FF.
Thousands of perfectly good extensions are old and abandoned- yet in no need of updates. Many times they overplay the security angle of updates anyways. If a .01 update adds language support for Tagalog that is fine and dandy. It doesn't mean that suddenly your system is dangerous to run because you didn't get it in the first 5 minutes. Yes, over time a well patched system is going to be more secure- but let's keep it real here. Granted, things like NS which deal with security and take on a big mission are going to need lots of updates. Many things wont need anything close to that pace.
One safe harbor is NoScript will always have a warm welcome in the PaleMoon community.
