NoScript not allowing me to allow scripts on any page

Post by Desertopa »

As of this morning, NoScript has not been allowing me to enable scripts on any page. If I right click on a page and click the NoScript icon, the Options and About NoScript icons appear, but no other options are available. There is an empty space above these icons, and nothing happens if I click it. I can only enable scripts by disabling NoScript as an add-on entirely (which I had to do in order to post on this forum.) I have used NoScript for years now (currently using the latest versions of both NoScript and Firefox) and have never encountered this before.

I can attempt to provide more information on request, but since I can't use this forum at all right now with NoScripts enabled as an add-on, I'm trying to describe the issue from memory, since I can't have it in front of me while I post.

Please try Standard Diagnostic and let us know the results, thanks.

You might want to export your entire NoScript config first, for testing and/or backup: NoScript Options > Export (the one *on the very bottom*).

I was wondering if anyone as had any luck fixing this. My NoScript has done the same thing. Also I would like to note that it will not let me change any settings in options, I can check the boxes but then the ok button will not lock them in. Also when this happened all the setting became unchecked, I now only have reset ok and cancel button at the bottom of the window (none which seem to work), and my whitelist is now empty. I tried reinstalling NoScript, messing with my profile, deleting the profile folder and installing, deleting the entire directory and doing a clean install of Firefox. At a bit of a loss as to what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

Just a side note. I have used Firefox, adblock plus, and NoScript sense they came out and I love them all. Keep up the good programming.

Check to see if http: / https: are in your WhitelIst ?

NoScript stopped working

What extensions have you added recently?
What "video downloader" or "codec" have you installed recently?
I'm thinking something out there is manipulating NoScript's whitelist settings...

Sorry for the long delay in responding, I've been pretty busy since I left my initial comment, and a lot of the processes in the standard diagnostic are unfamiliar to me, so it's been a bit of a hassle to go through all of them, but unfortunately my situation hasn't improved much. I believe it was after I tried a clean install with the latest versions of Firefox and NoScript that the NoScript icon stopped appearing on my right click list at all. I can click the noscript icon near the top right of my browser, and three options appear (Options, Temporarily Allow All This Page, and XSS.) I cannot change anything on the Options list (all the boxes are unchecked by default, and if I check them, I can't implement the changes.) If I click Temporarily Allow All This Page, the page freezes, but I can hit Refresh, and the page will reload with some scripts allowed.

Coinciding with, and I suspect related to these issues, many pages which I could formerly visit directly (such as my own email account) now give me messages that the page has been moved, and I have to click for a redirect. Sometimes I am forced to redirect multiple times to reach a single page.

I'm sorry to say that I'm not tremendously computer savvy, so I don't really know what further information would be relevant to resolving the cause of the problems, but I can provide further information on request.

EDIT The PM has not been read in a month, I'm giving up as they are probably not coming back. :(
