No audio in browser
No audio in browser
I just installed the NoScript add-on (v1.9.2.4) and ever since, I get no audio within Firefox (Youtube, etc). Audio is fine on the PC and other browsers (IE). Firefox version is 3.0.10. I also have AdBlock Plus installed, but have had that for years with no issues. OS is Vista 32 bit.

Re: No audio in browser
It's working fine here.
Could you try Standard Diagnostic?

Re: No audio in browser
Tried it in Safe Mode with all add-ons disabled and still no audio. I'm still not convinced it's not the NoScript extension though. Nothing else changed with my system other than that. And a Google search shows a few other cases of people having this problem (unfortunately no concrete solution though).

Re: No audio in browser
No problem here with me either. If you start a clean profile as you say and that means there are no extensions, NS CANNOT be the problem and IS NOT the problem. Simple as that. When no extension is loaded, no extension has control over anything. Plus NS never does anything to the audio. It might be an issue with your Fx profile, either dump it and create a new one or follow standard diagnostics to figure out what happened. Fx breaks my profiles just about every other update they do, so there is no surprise there something is wrong after going to 3.0.10.

PROBLEM SOLVED...
I don't know what it was, but NoScript was doing something to bring my Firefox audio down to zero.
I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled, all audio worked fine. I installed NoScript add-on, audio didn't work. Then I left-clicked on my volume control in the task bar and clicked 'Mixer'. The Application Firefox volume was set to 0...so something with installing NoScript was setting my Firefox App volume to zero.

Re: No audio in browser
If you insist, I'll let the developer take the lead on replying to that since I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with it, I can't say with with more certainty than the developer, so Giorgio this is all yours.

Re: No audio in browser
What is "Firefox audio"?
Are you using some sort of extension that affects audio from within FF?
Something like this, Disable Audio in Firefox with Stop Autoplay?

Not really sure if it's Vista or from my sound card, but when I left-click on the little speaker in the task bar, it shows the speaker volume. Below that, it says 'Mixer' and if you click on that, it shows you the volume levels of all of your applications as well (including Firefox, Windows sounds, etc). Both times I installed NoScript, that volume (for Firefox only) went to zero. So I suppose it could have had nothing to do with NoScript, but that would be a pretty bizarre coincidence. Or perhaps it's just something with my soundcard reacting to something NoScript does on the install.

Re: No audio in browser
I have the same issue. As soon as I disable noscript, I get audio back from websites like Youtube and other ones that have embedded videos. Still trying to find the root cause. The only other Firefox extensions I use is All-In-One Sidebar and Old Location Bar. Also, Firefox is at V3.0.8.

Re: No audio in browser
First, update your Firefox. It's easier to troubleshoot these issues if you're using the current version. Also, it's risky to use an old version of Firefox which has known, published, unpatched vulnerabilities. NoScript is a useful security tool, but even more effective is running with an up-to-date Firefox. Help > Check for Updates.Abellius wrote:Firefox is at V3.0.8.

Re: No audio in browser
Agreed with Alan, update to the latest for several reasons, better security and also easier debugging. Also as a user of Win7, I know that the audio is now handled under "mixer" to allow different applications capable of audio to transmit at different volumes. This way you can watch a video (without sound) while listening to something, kind of cool actually. But Fx has ALWAYS loaded at 50% for me unless I have changed the mixer volume and it has NEVER changed on its own or by anything, especially NS. So you might check to see if you have audio warnings or other settings from media player type addons that are adjusting or messing with that. Good luck.
