Navigation Display Issues
I have a problem accessing a page that I access just fine in the past and now with NS it won't work right. I have tested everything I can think of and the only thing that fixes it is disabling NS which is NOT what I want obviously.
Can someone look at this link: Canon Drivers and tell me what they think is going wrong? canon.com is whitelisted and there is nothing else showing.
Its supposed to present you with an OS drop down and then provide you the driver lists but nothing like that, instead it shows the reviews, something seriously screwy and I know its not the site because it shows fine without NS and in other browsers.
I would really like to know why and what in NS functionality breaks this even with whitelisted site. Thanks.

Re: Navigation Display Issues
Works for me if I allow canon.com and google-analytics.com.
Edit: Works even if I forbid google-analytics.com. I see what you're describing only if I forbid canon.com
Default profile, no other extensions, default NS prefs.

Re: Navigation Display Issues
Wow, you are going to treat me like noobie huh? No benefit of a doubt even, Ok, fair enough, it was never necessary to allow google-analytics.com before, that may be the problem then but allowing it didn't help either and I have used it with my current setup before with no problems. I would try your suggestion but this is a clean profile (2 days old) and as I stated already disabling NS fixes the problem, so no standard diag necessary really. Anything else?

The boilerplate advice was a joke, son. See edited post above. I reiterate: it works for me if I allow canon.com. I don't know why it doesn't for you. Are you using any other extensions?GµårÐïåñ wrote:Wow, you are going to treat me like noobie huh?

Phew, good to know Plus I was kidding in my reply, forgot the smiley's to covey it, it sounded alot more "funny" in my head.
Yes I have other extensions but nothing that is GUI interactive. I disabled already to see and none of them caused problems until I started NS which might mean a cross addon conflict but kind of odd for it to pop up suddenly out of the blue like this. Anyway, I guess its something on my end then, so I will keep at it until I figure it out or just live with it, we'll see.

Working on my end simply by Allowing canon.com.
No need for google-*.
If you have Full Domains or Full Address listed, & if you selected usa.canon.com or www.usa.canon.com, then you do not get the OS selection drop down.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if you were kidding, so I realized you might not have been sure that I had been. Thank you for the clarification and good luck with your problem. I know it can be a PITA, but you might have to resort to building up a new profile, one change at a time, starting with just NoScript, until you discover where the conflict is. Might be easier to just live with it, as you say.GµårÐïåñ wrote:I was kidding in my reply, forgot the smiley's to covey it, it sounded alot more "funny" in my head.

Re: Navigation Display Issues
I know, this used to work fine but now not. I rarely whitelist beyond the base the domain and in this case have canon.com base branch allowed which covers everything else. This is just so bizarre.therube wrote:Working on my end simply by Allowing canon.com.

Yeah I am sorry, I wasn't too clear about it. Usually when Firefox does an update, it tends to break my profiles and I have to start a new one many times. I had just created a new one after 3.0.9 and boom they release the 3.0.10 and now this, I hate this. Sometimes in the haste of being angry with stupid stuff like this, Fx echos M$ in their constant half ass patch work and lack of consistency required from the extension developers to publish a utility. Fx is slow to load, takes up too much memory overhead and then crap like this when extensions (which were supposed to make our lives better) introduce constant crap because either Fx changes something the developers don't know yet or developers use something without understanding it. It feels sometimes like Fx is just haphazzardly floating.Alan Baxter wrote:Yeah, I wasn't sure if you were kidding, so I realized you might not have been sure that I had been. Re: Navigation Display Issues
Wow. Sorry to hear the updates create a problem for you. All my 56 compatible extensions update without any problem each time -- the only exception being the change in Adblock Plus needed for Fx 3.0.9. And that was only a problem with element hiding, and it was fixed a week before the Firefox update. Which extensions give you these problems? I'd dump 'em.

Re: Navigation Display Issues
Well that's the problem, you never know which stupid addon is causing a problem hence the constant crap with standard diagnostics. A well written harmonious solution wouldn't need disable this and that to figure out who is screwing who. Its ridiculous. Too many chefs in the kitchen, the SOLE problem I have with Open Source, many treat "free" software as being equated to crap software and that mentality leads to inconsistency and poor performance.
On this profile I have:
Adblock Plus
All-in-One Sidebar
Auto Copy
BabelFish
BetterPrivacy
Brief
CLEO
Download Statusbar
Exit Button
Extension Manager Extended
FEBE
Firebug
FireTray
Flagfox
FlashGot
Ghostery
GoogleEnhancer
JavaScript Options
Micro Menu
NoScript
RequestPolicy
Screengrab
ScribeFire
Server Spy
SortPlaces
Stylish
UnPlug
I didn't have so much problems until more recently with the advent of "better" Firefox, my ass it has become worse than when it was initially released. We have machines running 1.x and 2.x and not a single freakin problem, machines running 3.x are all constantly crapped and problematic, its insane. Anyway, thank you for sticking with me on this, I don't mean to sound ungrateful and I don't want anyone to take offense, I am just pissed.

Give me the list and that way I can go look at them and maybe seek out and be turned to something cool that I didn't know.

Here ya go, but gotta go to bed now. BTW, replayanimation and repagination aren't "compatible" but they work if I override compatibility checking.

Re: Navigation Display Issues
- Aardvark (how is different in your experience from ABP: Element Hiding Helper?)
I just use it for page cleanup before printing.
- CustomizeGoogle (used to love this until he just stopped updating it)
I wish it kept up with Google's changes better too, but most of its features still work. I had to uncheck "Stream search result pages" because it didn't stream properly and wouldn't stop.
- gTranslate (you think this is better or BabelFish?)
Haven't tried BabelFish. Is it better? gTranslate is very easy to use.
- IE View (I used ieTab until it started causing crashes and their support sucks)
I'd just as soon not have IE tucked away in a tab. If I'm using IE, I want IE in my face so I don't forget I am. I don't need to use IE often, but I don't dislike it. I merely prefer Firefox. Oh, since there isn't a NoScript for IE, I do run it in Sandboxie.
- JSView (Firebug seems to do the trick for me, what do you like about this?)
It's very lightweight and easy to use. I removed it from the status bar and context menu. I just tuck it away in the View menu so it doesn't clutter up the UI.
- Update Notifier (can you tell me why this is better than the built in function?)
This is just for updates of extensions (and maybe themes, which I don't use). The built in function notifies you about extension updates only when you restart the browser. The Update Notifier icon turns blue right away while you're still using Firefox. It checks once every 24 hours by default, just like Firefox does.
- Work Offline (trying this)
It's nice to have a visual indicator of the Online/Offline status.
