vimeo .m4s only download option now instead of .mp4

Postby lieutenantglorp » Thu Feb 25, 2016 6:45 pm

I have been getting this file type lately as the only download option instead of the various resolutions in .mp4. Youtube seems to work ok. Same problem in firefox or chrome. Found a workaround using Download Vimeo Videos extension for Chrome. Will flashgot get update? Here is an example that is .m4s with Flashgot, but .mp4 using Download Vimeo Videos extension.

How?
FlashGot Media?
Some download link on the page?

Some other extension that is giving you a link that you're then passing to FlashGot?

(What was that payout, 75K or something. For doing what, riding 40+ foot waves ;-).)

youtube-dl can get it.
Seems it gets the m3u, then downloads each -frag part, interactively building the entire clip as it does, then deletes all the associated -frag's.

Oh, you & "guest" (segment_x.m4s.mp4) are the same person, why didn't you say.

Oh, at some point, certainly not from the onset, I do see the FlashGot Media did pick up on the -frag's, & if that is the case, then you can download them [all]. As far as putting them back together - in a usable fashion... it's been some time, so I don't recall, but as suggested in your other thread, look at the FFmpeg end of it to do the joins?

For YouTube-DL

It can download/get the links of the full non-segmented video

Code: Select all
youtube-dl -g --get-format --all-formats https://vimeo.com/155551391

The output will be like this [Download Link, Format]

Code: Select all

You can see "master.m3u8", "playlist.m3u8" and "mp4" in the download links

"mp4" is the full non-segmented video

Choose the desired quality of the "mp4" and download it with your download manager

Ah, so -s -F, which I used, lists the Formats, where -g lists the actual URLs.

Thanks.

Once the page loads and the Flashgot icon appears in the top right of browser bar, I just right click the icon, but now my only choice is to choose the segmented files.

Thanks. This sounds like another workaround I could try, but I was hoping to use Flashgot.

Sorry, I thought I was logged in already. I am surprised to find guest level access has ability to post.

Good to have another work around, but that sounds very time consuming compared to one click ;-)

railroadartwork wrote:Thanks to the author for this great program. However, I actually prefer the previous version because the new version creates a bunch of visible segmented temp files during the download whereas the previous version just gave you a "downloading segment" progress report. Now, the temp files do disappear after the download but I don't why they have to be visible during the download. I would rather just see the segment report messages.

Thanks therube and Compuitguy. Youtube-dl works good too, just a few more clicks required. :D
