Re: Signature discussion: Religion vs life and death
Well, I would say that any belief about what happens after death - including the belief that you simply rot away into worm food, end of story - is a religion. The defining aspect of a religion, in my view, is that it answers the question "What will happen after I die?" Supreme beings appear in many religions, but they are not essential to the concept.
So I stand by the original statement in my signature: religion does not put us to sleep, it makes us think.

True religion, which dares to acknowledge death and challenge the way we live, is an attempt to wake up.
