Well its quite obvious that spacers are harder workers then tabbers.

They have to do (typically) 8x the work of a tabber.

(I knew one tabber that used a length of one, and he wasn't even allowed to join the tabbers club. And the spacers didn't want him either. They gave him the name, the lone ranger.)

I wouldn't say harder workers, just unnecessary workers, they are inefficient and being rewarded for it, that's dumb, has to be kind of junk data coherence in the stats.

I use tabs of width 4 for structured languages and 5 for others and only for hierarchy alignment, meaning they all come from the left. I use spaces for readability and flow spacing as necessary and never to exceed 2 spaces in a row (with exceptions for rare scenarios). That's it. No magic to it.

I like tabs better. But I use spaces. Why? Because then I can get a tool to make sure I'm consistent. I've never seen a tool that made sure everything was tabbed correctly, but it's easy enough to find tools that will forbid tabs and/or convert into spaces automatically. And consistency is the most important thing.
