Make NS read ABE rules from a file (instead of the pref)

Post by access2godzilla »

Is there a way to make Noscript read ABE rule from a file rather than the preference? Some of my ABE rules are quite long (~100 KB) and I'm concerned about the impact on startup performance it has on Firefox.

I think NoScript used to do that a long time ago but doesn't anymore...

And anyway, for startup to be better performance, the ABE rule files would have to be read asynchronously, which could make ABE no longer reliable :o
I suppose one option could be to allow ABE rules to be specified as a file: URL just like surrogates can, as long as the ability to put rules directly in the preference doesn't go away...

And along those lines, just as a heads up, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=872980
*Always* check the changelogs BEFORE updating that important software!
