(That ass biting part isn't really true, as I'm sure it will bite me again - until I take the time to figure out how to lock down FF.)i open a new, clean Profile - PURPOSELY.
& what do i discover in this new, "clean" Profile?

NEVER AGAIN WILL I PUT ANY TRUST IN MOZILLA.
i may /use/ your products (actually SeaMonkey, so that is not really yours).
i may even one day be forced to use Firefox, but never again will i let it bite me in the ass!
