Ad block and web revenues

Post by morganism »

An article from the site owners on web ad revenue models.
Some discussion on the new cross site scripting to serve ads around blacklists.

I read the article, but it had nothing about cross-site scripting?

@morganism: If you meant to refer to software like ClarityRay, which blends the ads with the page content to make them hard to block, then that's nothing to do with cross-site scripting, but it's a sensible approach.

What bothers me the most is statements like this:
Alan Chapell, president of consumer privacy law firm Chapell & Associates, says the rise of ad blockers has created a tug-of-war between publishers and ad blocking product developers, with users in the middle. "There's confusion around who owns the user," he says.
Er...the user owns the user. Period. We're talking about human beings here. In Western societies, you're no longer allowed to own them.
