A new plugin for Chrome, Firefox, and a future version for Internet Explorer
Have a search for PrivDog
Made by Comodo - Its included in their version of Chrome, Dragon
Also available from its dedicated website as a separate installer
It does pretty much the same as Ghostery, but has a few more tricks
Comodo have launched AdTrustMedia to support it ( Malvertisement blocking / replacement with clean ads )

PS - Tom t's topics "Some sites you may not want to allow" in a few places on this forum ..
http://forums.informaction.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7686
Currently lists - # Evidon
Same people who now own Ghostery ( I think it used to be 'Better Advertising' when David Cancel sold Ghostery to them )
.. Possibly another reason you may want to have a look at replacing Ghostery with PrivDog.

I don't use Ghostery. I tried it out briefly, a long time ago. But I'm pretty sure that
RequestPolicy makes it redundant. I know Guardian still uses it, but only as a defence-in-depth measure.
But others might find PrivDog useful; thanks for bringing it up.

If only RequestPolicy were an option for Chrome forks, I might have used it.
( There is a variation of it out there, but its not the same as the original in its capabilities - Same as there are pretenders to the throne of NoScript for Chrome .. But no where near as effective as the original ) ..
I am pretty sure a fair bit of what RequestPolicy does is also done by PrivDog. So no need really.
The only thing I would love back for Chrome forks is NoScript, but we need to be patient on that score
