That's preposterous! :o
(The one who haven't Lucida Grande won't see what I mean)

At least the "—" is still nicely long… :D

Re: Why is the "–" not visibly longer than the "-"?

Which - and - do you mean. and what has that to do with NoScript or this forum? Can you provide Unicode IDs for the characters to which you refer?

I have Lucida Console installed in Windows\Fonts. Is that close enough to reproduce your effect? ... and wouldn't that be either an OS Font issue, or, more likely, a phpBB issue?

One is a simple hyphen ("-"), the other an n-dash ("–", U+2013).
The en-dash is not longer as the hyphen as it should be for those who have Lucida Grande (not Lucida Sans) here in the forums because it has highest priority according to the forums' CSS:

Code: Select all

/* Content container styles
----------------------------------------*/
.content {
	min-height: 3em;
	overflow: hidden;
	line-height: 1.4em;
	font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Trebuchet MS", Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;
	font-size: 1em;
	color: #333333;
	padding-bottom: 1px;
}

Oh, wow.

I'll PM Giorgio and tell him to drop whatever he's doing and get on this right away...

Nothing less I would have expected for such a dire blemish. :D
